Using a trickle charger - any rules on this? by
y_p_w
So here's the deal. The car is a Honda Civic with a group 51 battery
(Kirkland Signature from Costco if that helps). Every once in a while
the battery is heavily drained because a light (map light or headlamp)
was left on. I do find it annoying that there is no headlight-on
warning chime or...

95 Honda Civic Hesitation/shaking when accelerating by
Jacob
1995 Honda Civic EX 1.6L VTEC
173,000 miles
The other day I noticed that on the way to work in the morning, my car
had a very hard time accelerating (felt like it was going to stall).
It happened only one time though during that trip. I had driven about
2 miles and was departing from stop light. ...

K & N air filters--Are They Worth it? by
Nino NoSpam
Does anyone know if it's worth it to buy K & N air filters for your Honda?
Does it really improve gas mileage, and is it worth it to pay $70-85 CAD
upfront and then another $15.00 for the oil kit? I mean really, where's the
savings? If they were that good wouldn't manufacturers install them...

Thank you all for your advice. I have some VERY GOOD NEWS to share
Honda has agreed to replace my transmission free of charge!
I called "Honda of America" like Duckbill suggested (thank you
Duckbill!), I got through to a real person on the first ring (very
impressive). This gentelman was great,...

Timing Belt Change (10500 miles vs 7 years) by
RVS
Hi,
My Honda civic sedan is now 7 years old, but has only 75000 miles on
it. The manual says i need to change the timing belt at 105000/7 years
(whichever is earlier). I still have 30,000 miles to go, however the
number of years are done.
Should i be replacing the timing belt even though i am...

First Oil Change Suggestions by
[email protected]
Hello,
On my sister's 08 Accord she is almost at the point of her
first oil change. I'm going to wait until between 15-20% to change it
but I'm wondering should I use a dino oil on this change or a
synthetic blend before going fully synthetic. Also should I have one
more additional change after...

Any Honda models good in snow? by
K J
My '94 Accord sure is not. In winter time I foundly think of my old VW
Beetle that would go anywhere in snow without snow tires. This Accord,
even with front snow tires, is pretty lame. I wonder if Civics are any
better.

Following the ABS troubleshooting steps; Have any suggestions? by

Hey all,
My Car is a 1993 honda Accord with manual transmission.
I've had a problem with my ABS functionality for a few years now.
My car was falling apart so I slowly started to fix all its problems.

Gas Tank Level Theory by
Elle
I have been watching my 91 Civic's mileage particularly
closely since about October. This includes, for the
overenthused, watching the fuel tank gage. A few times I
have thought to myself, "Darn, it's reading just about
half-full, and I usually have at least X miles by this
point. The trip odometer...

Synthetic oil in new V6 accord? Is it worth it? by
[email protected]
I am about to buy a 2005 V6 Accord. Since I am starting with a fresh
engine, I have considered going with synthetic oil.
However, it is not clear if the benefits are worth the added cost.
To anyone who has tried synthetic oil with their Accord, what benefits
have you noticed (smoother running,...

Extended Warranty - Worth It???? by
BostonHondaGuy
Please Help!!
I was at a dealership last night and I think I got pressured into getting
the extended warrantee on a new 05 Honda Accord. After some negotiations,
they dropped the price of the 8year/120k mile w/$0 deductible from $1,500
to $1,100. But there was a problem with a paper work so they...

Civic Hybrid -- gas/electric usage by
Jeff
Does software control the switching of the power source between
gasoline and the battery pack? Or is it more of a mechanical element
that controls it?
Is it possible for Honda mechanics to "adjust" how much battery power
is getting used? I'm happy with my 2005 Hybrid, but I'd like to
average...

Are new Hondas maintenance free? by
yahmed
Hi,
I recently took a test drive for a new Corolla and the dealer told me
it does not require any tuneups for next 12 years or 160000km. All you
need is regular oil changes (every 6 months or 8000km)
Instead of timing belt, it has timing chain that automatically adjust
itself with time so no...

94 Civic: coolant drain/flush and thermostat by
Abeness
I recently had a stuck thermostat at an inopportune time, and had to get
whatever CarQuest supplied the mechanic instead of OEM as I had figured
to put in when I replaced the coolant later this summer. I still have to
replace the coolant and bleed the system, which wasn't done during
thermostat...

Advice for buying used Accord/Civic, please? by
Kristen
My husband and I are looking for a cheap but reliable 2nd car. We've
found the resale value of VWs (our first choice) to be kinda high, so
we thought we might check out Hondas. We need to fit 2 adults, 2
dogs, and a baby potentially, so that means 4 doors.
So, first, would the Civic be...

Tire Gauge? by

Is there a super-duper tire gauge on the market?
I have been using a pocket protector tire gauge for years. I bought an air
compressor last summer and now check my tires' pressure at least once a
month. I have found the pocket gage cumbersome to use. I can't consistently
fit it exactly on the tire...
