Tis the season for A/C questions... by JM[_1_]
Hi all, Just a quick A/C question for you. I have a 1999 Altima with air, and although the air works, it seems like it's not quite up (or down) to 100% performance. I've noticed the compressor seems to run for a long time, and then only cycle off for maybe 20 or 30 seconds before clicking...

GM 4.2L Vortec I6 - timing belt or chain? by ray
(envoy, trailblazer) Google is not not helping me... I'm pretty sure it's a chain, but I might be buying a used Envoy, and there's lots for sale with 150,000km (90,000 miles) which would be just under the 100,000km/60,000mile belt replacement if it has one. Ray

Engine prelubrication by [email protected]
I recently had an argument with an automotive technician (i am an automotive service advisor) about engine prelubrication. As i have thoroughly read Jack Erjavec's excellent book "Automotive Technology, A System's Approach" i tend to believe that you have to prelubricate a newly rebuilt engine...

Hi, I have a spare Ford AOD transmission that I'd like to move. It was a good spare tranmission for a 1984 Mercury Grand Marquis. I haven't had the car for several years, and the tranny has been sitting on my garage floor for 6 years, so selling AS-IS; no torque convertor. Located in Garland TX...

Hi all, I have a 2000 Grand Am that seems to have a clunk in the steering wheel when i move it back and forth when the engine is not running... I can feel it in the steering wheel, so I believe that it somewhere from the steering rack up. The rack should be okay because it was just replaced. Does...

Ford automatic overdrive transmission by [email protected]
I have a 1990 van with the OD transmission, E8OD. A while ago I thought I should push the "disengage overdrive" button. I did, and now the transmission will not go into overdrive. The light on the switch stays unlit as well. Normally the light is "on". I tried removing the switch, no change. ...

Air Conditioning Temperautre by [email protected]
Hello, I have a 1998 Honda Civic and my air conditioning seems a little weak. I measured the air coming out and it measures 48F. I was wondering if this is about normal, or a little off. Thanks for your help.

Ford PATS keys info by [email protected]
A friend of mine had to have his 05 F150 towed in. It was found that his key went bad. They had to have both keys to program it. I called a Ford dealer and the price of a key is $35 and $70 to program it. Since I own an 06 F150, I got a PATS key blank on Ebay and had a local locksmith cut it for...

My 97 Toyota Tercel keeps burning out spark plugs by [email protected]
First noticed last year after long drive of 300 miles straight. Burnt out one spark plug and car bucked like a pony running on 3. Had one coil replaced and changed the spark plugs. Fixed. Now 1 year later, I burn out a plug every month or so after a long drive, or one uphill. I feel like it has...

I was thinking of changing from an auto transmission to a manual transmision on my '93 Honda Prelude. It has a H23A1 auto and I was thinking of moving to a H22A1 manual. Anyone make that kind of change before? I was wondering what kind of change I would be looking at in the interior of the...

Honda CRV 2002 by JV via CarKB.com
My car has 73,000 miles and supposedly blew a head gasket and I had it repaired. I waited 2 weeks for the car. I got the car and drove it 2 days and oil started leaking from it. I brought it to the dealer and they said it was an oil pressure switch. I had replaced. The car is leaking oil...

Overhauling ATX Ford Transmission by westerb
I'm thinking about overhauling my transmission but this will be the first for me. Im very mechanically inclined and like new challenges. I do feel a little nervous about this but also feel it can be done. I bought a good manual from ATSG about overhauling a tranny. I would appreciate any feedaback...

Ford Ranger Oil Pressure Gauge - Sludge? by [email protected]
I've recently been driving an old reengined 1986 Ford Ranger, I have no idea what the engine is, the truck says electronic ignition, but this looks conventional, 2.0 l or 2.3 l. The problem is the oil pressure gauge (it's the dummy variety - I tested it by grounding the sender wire - it reads...

What is the purpose of car tachometer by Jayprakash
I want to decide whether to buy a car with tachometer. What is purpose of tachometer? How will I be able to use it? I know that tachometer is used to show engine rpm and that one should not drive in "red rpms". I want to know more than this. Will tachometer help me improve fuel efficiency?

Difference between Camry 2002 and 2007? by cimetiere
Hi! I presently own a 4 cylinder LE Camry 2002 with 65 000 miles. Is it worth upgrading for a 2007 LE version? Both specs seem to be very similar, unless I am wrong? Many thanks for your advice!!! --
