Dodge Van 1997 by
I have a full size Dodge 3/4 ton custom van with the 318 cid FI engine.
Came in from a trip last night and tried to start her up, and found the
battery too
flat, so I boosted it for a few minutes and she started right up...
BUT, the idle was extremely high. I drove it for perhaps 25 miles, let...

Novel air conditioning system by
As there have been so many posts lately about A/C systems, does anyone
remember the system
that was developed several decades ago that used compressed air as the
refrigerant?
It came to mind as I was reading these posts.
It was abandoned, probably for a number of reasons, but used no...

GM 3800 plastic plenum problem, revisited by
My wife's 98 LeSabre has apparently succumbed to the plastic plenum
predicament.
Apparently GM has never taken official responsibility for this crappy
engineering
and quality situation.
Does anyone know if there is a chance to get GM to pay for all or part of
this?
Sometimes they will do things...

Re Michelin Tires by
Refering to a previous post, I checked out Tire Rack and found two totally
different
sentiments about the same Michelin tires.
One loved them, the other hated them (after a few days).
When I posted previously, I forgot to say that I got into a tire noise
situation
with my last Michelins too.

Tires, tyres, cauchos by
I have used Michelins for a number of years..
Never really had a beef with them. I normally got great treadlife, good
handling,
and a quiet ride.
Just noticed my wife's car has a sidewall cut, and the tread is getting thin
on
her Mich's after about 40,000 miles... Time to re-shoe...
After...

A technical question on batteries in general. by
!Jones
I'm shopping for a deep cycle battery to power fans, lights, etc in a
small camper. I don't have a strict size limit as I'll buy the box to
fit whatever battery I get.
An Optima "Yellow Top" D51 will probably give me enough power and the
26 lb weight is reasonable.
As I shop, I see an "alphabet...

Emissions Testing (NOx) by
(o.0)
Hi all,
I own a 1985 Toyota Supra that refuses to pass the GA emissions
testing. On the first test my NOx was above the limit on both the 25/25
and the 50/15 test. After the first test I SeaFoam'd the engine in
every way possible and used the "Guaranteed to Pass" magical liquid.
Ten days later I...

More Dangerous Chinese Tire-related Crap by
*
Front page headline in this week's (June 23, 2008) "Tire Business",
published by Crain Communications.
"Huge recall of valve stems is underway"
At least one fatality is being directly linked to the faulty valves.
More than 30 million Chinese-made tire valves are being "...evaluated".
These tire...

Who profits from high gas prices? by
*
One Maine gas station has closed down its gas pumps, and gone to service
bay work only.
The reason?
Banks were making more-per-gallon in credit/debit card fees than the
station was.
Citing the three percent credit/debit card fees, the owner pointed out that
the banks were making...

Not just auto parts problem.... by
*
My HP IIP-Plus Laserjet printer needs a cartridge.
I don't print anywhere near as much stuff as I used to when I ran a
marketing business, so replacements are fewer and farther between.
So, I went to that Big Box store - the one whose name sounds like a device
that is used to fasten papers...

It is now against Federal law to point a laser at an airplane.......
Why are cops still allowed to point lasers at motorists??????

cumulative effect that can result in various cancers. There is evidence

Parts Cleaner Precaution by
*
I have a 15-gallon, home-built parts cleaner in my shop that is doing just
fine.
Recently, at a lawn sale, I had the chance to purchase one of those small,
3.5 gallon parts cleaners like you see in the Northern Tools and Harbor
Freight catalogs brand-new-in-the-box for $12.00.
Thought it would be...

Regardless of where you are reading this, I post my comments on the
