How to replace instrument lamps? by
2ndKnight[_2_]
I am reposting this question as I was unable to apply the suggestions
sent in response to the last post.
What is the proper way to get at the instruments in order to replace
lamps in a 1978 bug Cabriolet? There is a steel panel in the front
luggage compartment behind the dash but it is held in...

Convertible side window glue by
Al
The metal frame around the passenger door window has come loose. What
type of glue holds that together? And...does anyone have any tips on
gluing it back in?
Thanks.

Bug stalls a few times then doesn't start... by
Mel P.[_2_]
My 77 Bug seems to really strain when starting even after replacing the
starter (approx 6 mos ago). I have a new battery. A couple of weeks ago I
was driving home from a friends house, who lives about 5 miles away. I
started the Bug, drove about a mile and it just stalled. Started it again a...

Question about 77 steering rebuild by
[email protected]
What is the recommended way to rebuild a front end? Is the complete
tie rod replacement easier than just doing ball joints? I assume that
an alignment would be needed either way. A local shop quoted $1000.00
for rebuilding tie rod ends and bushing and replacing the steering
box. Seems steep to...

Very cool find by
[email protected][_1_]
Today I picked up a real nice black 67 beetle and a ton of parts but
one of the cool items was a very nice condition 1960 edition of Jud
Purvis "Fix Your Volkswagen. There are some real cool pictures of
bothe the beetle production line and the bus production line.

Front end help/advice neded by
Mike West
As I have mentioned here before, I have a chopped and lowered 66 bug. It is
on a 67 pan with a swing axle rearend. I had a new front end built with 2"
lowered spindles and those adjustable thingies put in. It wears out tires
like you wouldn't believe! I took it to a shop and he did what he could...

Look at that stock articulation. YOU ALL know this car needs some
knobby tires and a little fender trimming here and there. The car is
begging to be LCB Jr and have its own website. Just think of the

Anyone have an online source for a 3" body lift kit for a standard

found this but it's not in stock:

How about a source for some of those tall, knobby tires that...

Replacing pistons in 1600cc - question by
barnhart_pinball
Well, I found I had melted a piston (looks like it had a vacuum leak at the
bottom of the cylinder). I bought new pistons/cylinders - am working on
replacing all of them - but what way do the arrow on the top of the piston
go? In other words, what does it point towards?
Thanks for any info &...

Disc Brake Upgrade by
ARL
Well I am back at it, working on my 59 Bug once again. I have installed
front and read disc brakes with the kit from AC Industries. The kit came
with a new master cylinder. I hooked up my old 59 reservoir and green line
to the new master cylinder. It was a little hard getting the green brake
line...
