75 wind deflector removal by
SteveH
Does anyone have an idiots guide to this?
Managed to the passenger side item whilst working on the car today.
Gah!
On the positive side, the car now has a decent stereo with bluetooth
hands-free, iPod control and MP3 capability and the headlining no longer
sags, although I need to have it fixed...

JTS exhaust by
GT[_11_]
Best online shop for exhausts please...
I need a new back box for my 156 2002 2.0JTS. Its not the same as the TSpark
exhaust system.
The flexi pipe was the blowing part, so they welded a similar sized piece in
and all is well, but there is only luck holding the rear silencer together
at the...

Just been to collect my 75 by
SteveH
from the garage where I keep it, around 10 miles away.
Haven't had a chance to use it since the first week of June, but once
I'd disconnected the battery, it fired up pretty much instantly.
Who says Alfas are unreliable?

Door mirrors by
GT[_11_]
Both my door mirror mounts have completely shed their 'black' now. My old
Fiat Marea did this too. I'm not too bothered about it as the resulting
bauxite (corroded aluminium) looks like chrome from a distance! Should I be
concerned? Are the mirrors likely to fall off?!?

156 at the end of the world... by
SteveH
Took the 156 down to the West Country for a long weekend.
Took in the Eden Project, Fleet Air Arm Museum and Lands End.
Total miles in the region of 650.
2 tanks of fuel burned.
Average MPG just short of 35. :)

A Sad Day by
Zathras
I had genuinely hoped to have been able to put off this day forever,
but it wasn't to be. After 7 enjoyable and remarkably trouble free
years of driving the Alfa, the 8th year and, in particular, the last
six months have been a trial. It looked as though the trial would
never end so the best car I...

As you can see from my reply, key re-coding is cheap these days, so
someone could get a bargain there.

Sportwagon Tailgate Trim Removal by
SteveH
Any ideas?
I need to gain access to the rear wiper, which has a minor electrical
issue - probably a fault in the muti-plug.
If I wiggle it, the wiper works, but won't stay working.
Cheers.

3 Questions in 1 post... by
GT[_11_]
Q1 - MAFs:
I can relate to the "scalded cat / bus" post the other day and I have read
the "dirty or faulty MAF" answer to so many similar posts that I presume
this is also my problem, but not being particularly mechanically
confident...
MAF = Mass Air Flow. Clearly the engine needs the right...

Pikey tyres by
R C Nesbit
The 156 was in need of a pair of front tyres, but since my
financial partners pulled out in June I am flat broke most
of the time.
So I called in to The Tyre Shop, purveyors of cheap rubber
to the denizens of Ollerton (ex mining village) and bought
a pair of economy branded fronts for the...

Thinking of buying a 159 oil burner, what does the group think of this motor
and how significant are the differences between the the 1.9 and the 2.4?

156 Speedo failed any ideas? by
David A Stocks[_3_]
156 2.4 JTD 2000.
It dropped to zero about 30 miles from home on a long journey yesterday -
and the miles have stopped clocking up as well. It sometimes comes back but
not for very long. AFAIAA it gets its feed from the ABS wheel sensors. The
ABS system still seems to work OK - no warning lights...

Catman server down? by
Bert Kanters[_2_]
Hi Catman, I noticed I couldn't log on to my part of
www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk, I was hosting my Alfasud page there for years
(thanks for that again!). Also your main page is not working for some days
now. Will it be back online?
Currently I'm upgrading my Suds brakes to 155 V6 front and 166...

Dead 159 by
Simon Mason
The 159 died last night in the driveway. I traced the fault to the fact that
the quick release clamp to the negative battery post was barely of a small
enough diameter to actually grip the post. Had to wrap some aluminium foil
around it to make it wider. Poor design.

MOT Time! by
R C Nesbit
Having bought the 156 with 10 months MOT on it, I
mis-remembered that the MOT ran out on 5th Nov!
Any road, it went in today, and failed!
Previous MOT had an Advisory that there was a leak in the
flexible exhaust hose.
This time it failed on the same thing! :^(
On the plus side, it is now much...

Sillyspeed... by
SteveH[_2_]
I should have known this would happen.
Car is a 2002 built (facelift interior) 2.0 Selespeed Veloce.
Fault code: P1742 - Selection Range Sensor.
Am I correct in assuming this is the actuator, and will be hugely
expensive to fix?
On the other hand, I joined the ranks of the Italian...
