help identifying a car from the 60s by [email protected]
Hello, I am trying to identify a movie from a single picture I have, which shows a car radio and a portion of the dashboard. I have so far identified the radio as being a US Blaupunkt Frankfurt, probably from the late 60s, and I was wondering whether anyone here would be able to identify the...

Problems putting power brakes on 67 Camaro by lcifers
My brother put a brake booster on his 67 Camaro to convert to power brakes, but the brakes are way too sensitive. the car has a high performance engine that probably pulls much more vacuum than stock. Could this be the problem? Is there a device to limit the vacuum to the booster? Thanks. - Luther

What happens when battery leads are switched? by Marshall Schuon
Hi gang, Just realized today that a garage reversed the battery cables on my positive-ground '53 Packard. What, if anything, does that do to the car? I realize that my gauges might read backwards, but is there any serious damage to the system? Thanks, Marshall

Oldest faces? by [email protected]
We are intrigued about a philosophical question: When did the automobile start to have a "face"? I mean, two eyes from the ligths, and occassionaly evident nose and mouth from the radiator, the motor trunk, and the start device (even a tongue!). But mainly two "eyes". Most modern pictures of...

Gas mileage info on '78 Buick Regal? by Bill Johnston
Hello, I was wondering, is there anywhere (like a website) that would have the gas mileage figures for an older car, to be specific a 1978 Buick Regal? The owner's manual doesnt have it, neither does the Chilton's book, and the govt. site doesn't have cars that old. I ask this because I just...

very old, old and new cars. by Stude
Driving home from the auto museum in my only car yesterday, I realized that if you subtracted the age of the car from the year it was built, you get 1919! Cars changed one hell of a lot more between 1919 and 1963 than they did between 1963 and now. 1963 cars could have power windows, steering and...

American cars by Dave
It time to break out those old cars and get them fixed up, and back on the road again, if we just let these old cars rot in to a pile of dust. We will lost a lot, we need to keep our cars up and running, we need to show these non-American Americans what's up. I know we still have some pride left in...

I'd like some opinions on which 35+ years US stationcars are good cars, if any. by Basil
Hi everyone. I'm comtemplating buying one of those huge old station cars, for importing to Denmark , Europe. One of those where a family of four, dogs and a load of luggage will fit, with room to spare. It will be a year or so before we come visit you all overthere in the great country. So i...

Old Car Pictures by Jack Ferman
I have a project to identify old family photos. Some include portions of cars behind people, most are in not good focus, many are faded. So I am looking for pictures of old cars that show enought detail of things like grills, hood ornaments, wheel spokes, tires, window shapes, head and...

pushing the bounds of historical tags by Kenneth Garman
I have a classic car with Missouri antique plates. Missouri historic regs limit me to 1,000 miles a year of driving and must keep a journal in the car recording every trip. I stay under the 1,000 mile limit just barely, but the complication is that I split my time between residences in Texas and...

Help with Positive Ground issues by thunderbeast
I just bought a 55 Nash Metropolitan. The reading I have done tells me that it is a 12Volt electrical system with positive ground. I had a dead battery this morning, and thought that with a car this old, and driven infrequently, that a charge / jump unit with an on-board battery would be really...
