Crankcase vent hose, '87 Scirocco by
Bill Leary
I'm trying to find a replacement for the crankcase ventilation hose (pipe?)
for my '87 16V Scirocco.
VW says they haven't got it and can't get it. Same from a couple of local
supply places.
This goes from the vent on the front of the engine, to the intake air
housing over towards the right. ...

First MKV Jetta sighting by
Steven Grauman
I saw an MKV Jetta on the road for thew first time two days ago, a 2.5
that appeared to have a nice level of equipment, although I was on the
highway and could not get a very good look. I read several preliminary
magazine reviews that seemed top complain endlessly about how "slow"
the 2.5 model is,...

Some good news about the new Jetta by
Rob Guenther
Went to the dealer today for the special early launch of the new Jetta.
Found out some really good things about it:
Electrical system - made by the same company that makes the systems for
Toyota
There is a tunnel and a cutout already in this car - 4Motion is coming in ~2
years
The 5-cylinder...

A note from the "Oil Sludge Settlement Administrator" by
Bert Hyman
Received a packet of information from the "Oil Sludge Settlement
Administrator" including a notice of a proposed settlement of a class
action lawsuit regarding the sludge problem affecting the 1.8T engines
in some VWs and Audis.
At first, I thought it was just another class action scam where...

Most reliable older VW by
Mr. D
I am considering purchasing an older used Volkswagen. I really like
Volkswagen cars, but someone is trying to talk me out of buying one
because they insist Volkswagens are not reliable as a Honda or any
other Japanese make.
I would like some opinions on which one of the following older
Volkswagen...

Cargo Partition for 2003 Passat Wagon by
Kevin
I am looking for a partition that would separate the cargo area of my
passat wagon (and the dogs staying back there) from the passenger
compartment. VW sells one (a "cargo partition" p/n 3B9017221B) but it
costs $450! and looks like you would have to screw it into the
moulding which might affect...

Anybody have anything to say about the Tiguan? by
Bert
I've pretty much given up trying to find an affordable replacement for
my old Passat wagon, so I've started looking at small SUVs and
"crossovers" and will live with having to fold down the rear seats when
I have to carry anything.
I like my Passat, but I don't know a thing about the Tiguan...

VW Golf towing delema by

Sorry, I don't have data for the A4, as the german VW homepage of
course only lists A5 data, but it should be similar for the A4.
Again, there's no 1.8 turbo in the A5 yet, but the 150HP FSI should...

warranty/VW Customer Care by
Craig Faison
Hi all,
Our '02 Jetta Wagon has had a clutch failure - specifically, the clutch
won't disengage completely. My first guess was clutch master/slave
cylinder, but my dealer says they check out fine and that there are no
leaks. They say that it's a mechanical failure in the clutch mechanism
(throwout...

92 Cabriolet front wheel bearing by
Mike
Hello -
Went to purchase a replacement wheel bearing and asked for the grease
seals and the guy at AutoZone told me they are "built" into the
bearing assembly?? Has anyone else run into this? Are new grease
seals not needed when replacing the old bearing with a newer bearing
that's now been...

CIS and low compression... by
In2hoppn
Hi all. Any old time CIS nuts still hanging around here? It's been a long
time since I gave up my bad rabbit habit... guess I was overdue for a slip
: )
Question: Should a 1.8 CIS run (at least poorly) with 55 to 60 psi
compression?
STOP HERE if you like, or read on if your curious for more...
