"hypothetical" question by
Shag
Suppose you have an air-cooled VW engine with transmission attached to
it and the half-shafts are in place and the wheels are attached and no
fluids have been drained... Now you have this combination sitting on
the floor of your garage but it's taking up a little more room than
you'd like it to. ...

Body off how to ? by
tricky
Ok got most of the bolts undone or ground off.
Looking from the inside of the car where the heater chanel meets the
floor pan, some places I can see it move, some place have been welded
over in a pretty messy patchwork inside and out.
As I have never seen a body off before, I am a bit confused as...

Dune Buggy Won't Stay Running by
Will Sheppard
I've got a 69 buggy with a dual port engine. It has a 009 dizzy and a 34
pict 3 carb. It starts right up and idles for a few minutes then dies and
is very difficult to restart. When it does restart it won't run properly -
if I hold it at a steady rpm, let's say 2000 it will rev for about...

WestCoastMetric! by

Yo, dads. . . I found a new German steering box and German door seals
at West Coast Metric. Seems they're still at it! Seems that they've
really done a good job of increasing the number of parts they sell. WOW
- how things have changed since I first got into this old VW thing . .

Type 3 in the weeds. by
Randy
Was out driving our little part of the world this
morning and spotted a type 3 out in a pasture. Doesn't
look like it's been there to long and just from a quick
glance over it looks like it's in really good shape.
Will have to corner the farmer that lives there and find
out whats up with it and...

One other question by
Jeveretts
I have what looks like a vacuum advance distributor, there are two
ports on the actuator, only one is hooked up, going up to the carb,
The other is just open. There are a few other vacuum ports on the
intake, all of which are blocked off, two on the front of the carb
facing straight back, and one...

Bus undercoating?? by
Eric Desrochers
Hello! I finally fetched a 1974 camper bus!
I'd like to know what treatment is recommanded for the bare
undercarriage. Paint (what kind?), undecoating with some kind of tar
stuff, rust proofing oil treatment (the oil that drips or the oil that
don't ?)
Thanks!

68 VW convertible ragtop-in pieces by
fred67bug
Here in Northern New jersey, I found out about a project that was
dropped by someone. The car is a 68 VW convertible, body is off the
pan. The pans have been replaced and the body needs new heater channels
and reinforcement rails. The original engine is still attached to the
pan, I was told it...

Regarding previous post on 68 Converible/heavy resto or parts car by
fred67bug
I posted about a 68 converible, a project sarted and then dropped. This
ia a complete car, broken down for restoration and then like so many
other DIY projects, dropped and forgotten. I have no personal interest
in this car, as I have my VW. Somone should be intere3sted at least for
the parts alone....

1966 wiper motor crapped out by
[email protected]
I've had my '66 Beetle for a month now and one of the few things which
as worked right is the wiper motor. I replaced the blades and
tightened up one of the arms the other day -- and voila, they stopped
working. I turn the switch, and they twitch just barely so I know i
have power too them. But...
