Transmission/clutch/ shifting questions by tumbleweed
I'm a new Miata (2001 LS)owner with some questions. I hear a "chirp" that seems to be a clutch or transmission issue at about 4000rpm or over. vehicle hesitates ever so slightly at the same time as the "chirp". Does anyone else experience this? Shifting the 6-speed transmission seems a little...

JR Sway Bar - Racing Beat Brace Contact by pws
I have the JR sway bars and the Racing Beat sway bar brace listed. The auction pictures show the contact points for anyone who is interested in seeing them, (Leon?). Plus, it is a blatant promotion of my other Ebay auctions, which includes a few other newly-listed Miata items. I also have some...

Miata's Effeminate? by Turtoni
I used to own a Miata and traded it in a year or so ago for a more practical new vehicle but it was an awesome fun car. I was wondering if anybody else had experienced other guys thinking that a Miata is an effeminate car? I guess the size makes it seem girlish to them, like a motor bike would?...

Screwed? by mdginzo
I have a Mazda Miata 1995 that is missing a set of screws that goes on the top of the windshield and holds the bracket that the top clamps down on. It is a set of screws with a star in the center of each screw and the dealership is unable to find it. What can I do? Anyone out there have a Miata...

90 miata engine change, now cranks but wont fire, help! by 90miataca
Just today the long process of changing over the engine on my 90 miata was completed. The crankshaft on the original engine was the short crank and the keyway had already been filled so rather then replacing the crank on the engine (which had a little over 200Ks already) I purchased a second hand...

Turning of the engine at traffic lights by [email protected]
I recently read that many Europeans shutdown their engines at traffic lights to save gas. Am I missing something? If I do the math right my Miata gets 30 mpg on the highway cruising at say 70 mph at about 3000 rpm. So I'm using 2.3 gph or .04 gpm. If I idle at 1000 rpm say I use 1/3 as much gas...

Toys for the rich (NMC) by pws
I saw this posted to a local list. How much do you think one of these model jets would cost you? I would probably get about 10 minutes of playtime out of it before I nose-dived it into the ground. Looks like a fun toy; real jet engines, 280 mph, made from carbon fiber and kevlar, etc. Pretty cool...

Drove a new MX5 today and... by XS11E
....absolutely detested the car! The very last thing I expected is the car would hurt, the seat put a pain in my back that still hasn't gone away, the throttle position caused enough pain in my ankle to where I had to use the cruise control and the left hand cup holder, the one built into the door...

NB sway bars by Chris D'Agnolo
On my 92, upgraded swaybars were the best money I ever spent (legally). Is the same true on the NB? Anyone know stock bar thickness (front and back) off the top of their head. The PO may have upgraded them already, not sure. TIA, Chris

Aftermarket sway bar question by pws
When you buy aftermarket sway bars such as the Jackson Racing or Flying Miata sets, do they come with their own bolts for the front sway bar or do you use the original bolts? Thanks! Pat

Prospective 99 Miata owner by [email protected]
I have some questions that remain unanswered and was hoping someone could help me. For one, I could not find anywhere an FAQ with information on what to look for when buying a used M2. Is there one somewhere? Secondly, a stranger question. I don't golf but I do both kendo and iaido. I am concerned...

Thinking about a hardtop. by Dave Smith
I'm thinking about getting a hardtop for my '97 and I'm interested in hearing from those who have them. How's the interior noise at speed compared to with a softtop? How much hassle removing/replacing it? Are they fragile? Heavy? Any change in the car's handling due to aerodynamics, rigidity,...

95 Merlot FS cheap by Chris D'Agnolo
Just a heads up, there's a guy in CA on miata.net selling a high mileage 95 Merlot for about what the 15"BBS wheels are worth! I'm not kidding, act fast, he wants to get rid of it for $850! If someone hasn't already bought it I'd just about s _ _ t my pants. Good luck, Chris

Problem with a 1997 Protege by psychocop
My daughter has a 1997 Mazda Protege that has developed a new problem. It is locked in Park - and will not shift out to any gear. This is new - and there was no apparent warning of a developing problem. Any ideas?

Ever done this in a miata? by pws
First time ever, after leaving the dentist, (which is my excuse), I opened the door of my red miata and thought "whoa, where's my Momo steering wheel and boost gauge"? It turns out my miata was parked 2 spaces down. I have done this plenty of times in more generic cars, even mistaking Camrys for...

Automatic transmissions by [email protected]
I am interested in purchasing a nice 93 Miata with an AUTOMATIC transmission with 75,000 miles on it. It is for my wife and she does NOT drive a stick and won't learn. My question is, other than the obvious power loss, how reliable are these automatics? Do they have any inherent problems that I...

Hi. I'm sure this topic has been discussed here before but I haven't found the answer I was looking for by searching.. so I'll ask again. I have a 2001 Miata and both fog lamps (driver and passenger) have cracked and damaged lenses. I would like to replace them so my questions are as follows: 1....

626 Camshaft Installation Problem by Robin1
My son recently overheated his car and warped the head. I had a local machine shop pressure test and machine the warped head. After I installed the head, I tried to seat the double overhead cams. After they were installed they were so boundup that I could not rotate them with a vice grip. I have...
