Expert Humor
The way our politicians rushed to talk about
illegal immigration this week, maybe they thought it
came with a free lunch. They won't do anything about it,
but it will get them some money. The Expert provides

88 Firebird 305 Oil Pressure Issue - Please Comment by
[email protected]
First off the car is a 1988 Firebird Formula 305 Vin Letter E. I've
picked up a new oil pump but when I printed out the repair specs I've
decided to try and get some input from the web.
I'm having an issue where on startup cold I'm getting around 30 psi and
that stays pretty constant until engine...

I have a 1985 Chevy SM465 manual transmission that I removed from a
donor vehicle. Does anyone know how much the average cost for a
rebuild for this
type of transmission?

[email protected]
I just recently began driving a rather old and beat-up ice cream truck
and lately I have been having some headaches. This truck, which is due
for inspection in a few months and uses gasoline as fuel doesn't run
too well.
Here are a few questions.....
Can you be adversely affected by fumes in a...

Ball joints-S10... by
[email protected]
I took my S10 to a mechanic today to check the alignment and possibly
replace the idler arm. The mechanic said my ball joints need to be
replaced. I had them replaced not too long ago. I was amazed at the
amount of play in the wheel when he rocked it back and forth. They
were going to charge me...

Changing Power Steering Pump 96 Firebird LT1/Ram Air by
ScottG
Quick question - thinking of tackling a power steering pump replacement
myself. Doesn't seem too tough, are there any gotchas? Any shortcuts or
tips?
I've done suspension upgrades, brakes, alternator, simple stuff like
that so I'm comfortable spinning wrenches on pretty much anything...

How to Prime a Grease Gun? by
Mike Romain
Depends on your gun. My cartridge type has a bleed screw at the top and
it has a T-handle and rod. If the grease is really cold or heavy I open
up the bleeder. If the grease is warm, the t-handle will turn and push
all the way in and pull back out easy making a channel for the air to
come to the...

Humorous GM TSB by
Comboverfish
I just ran across this oil consumption TSB from 2003 -- Bulletin #
01-06-01-011A. My favorite part (besides the fact that they play off
internal oil consumption as normal on new cars) is the following
paragraph telling mechanics how to check oil. 20 minute wait if you
are checking a 3.4!!!...

Z-rated by H-rated tires by
[email protected]
I thought it was a bit odd that the reviews for a particular model of
tire were better with a higher speed rating (h vs. z). Usually Z-rated
tires have stiffer sidewalls and different compounds that adversely
affect noise and comfort.
Does anyone have an idea why the Bridgestone Turanza are...

Came from factory w/left side 1 inch lower than right??? by
sdlomi2
I just found out by my trial and my error that the 98-2004 S10's &
Sonoma's come stock with the right side approx. 1 inch higher than left
side--not so noticeable at factory ride height. But, put 2-inch(or greater)
drop spindles (Belltech!) on it & the difference becomes quite...
