Where to keep vehicle registration in a VW Golf? by
Rich Wales
Where should you keep the registration form in an '04 Golf?
In my previous cars, I used to keep the registration behind a
clip-on mirror on the sun visor. But there doesn't seem to be
room to do this on my Golf, because the built-in mirror with
the sliding cover takes up so much room in the...

cv joint? whomp whomp whomp when under power by
[email protected]
Hi,
An '85 Golf 8v, auto transmission. 262,000 kilometres. When
accelerating or pulling up a hill, I can feel and hear a slight whomp
whomp whomp in the front, most likely from the area of the left front
tire. I can feel the thumping through the steering wheel. The whomp
whomp is at the same...

Superglue oil leak fix by
[email protected]
I just read an interesting thread that discussed the use of superglue
to fix an oil leak on an airplane. (The trick was to attach a shop vac
to a breather so the glue is sucked into the crack.) The previous owner
of my Rabbit must have stripped the oil pan drain bolt threads, as a
helicoil-type...

Renting a Jetta or Passat? by
John Bartley
The IIRC 'silver' rating of these sedans for protecting driver &
passengers in a crash
http://www.iihs.org/news/2005/pr120405.html
has me looking at them to replace my '95 4Runner, which is now overkill
for the driving I do these days.
However, I'm fussy about cars; seating is very important, for...

$2.5/gal in some parts of the state, like the Bay Area and San Diego,

2002 Jetta GLS by

I own a 1999 Jetta GLS with a VR6, new model. I love the car, but I had

maintenance). My husband's CRX got stolen the other day, and a friend who is
a sales manager at a dealer has a 2002 Jetta GLS with leather, Monsoon...

Why Only 4.7 Quarts of Oil? by
Lamont
I have a 2003 GTI 1.8T, is it safe to just put 5 quarts of oil in
rather than 4.7 as the manual states? It is only 9.6 ounces of oil.
Anyone else doing this?

I've just returned from a holiday skiing in France. During the
outgoing journey (in very cold conditions) I noticed the car was
returning much lower mpg than in the uk (typically about 10 mpg lower).
On the journey back I monitored the mpg meter and found that when the
