Would it not be nice to.. by
P.J. Berg
Have a president who was able to finish full sentences?
Would it not be nice??
Perhaps instead of waging war overseas?
Would it not be nice to have a government who supported the Kyoto treaty
to cut greenhouse gasses, like all of western Europe has done?
Whilst the U.S. has increased it's output,...

OT Chevrolet Tahoe by
Bill Berckman
Saw an ad on TV advertising the Tahoe. General Motors is advertising
that it gets the best fuel economy in its class. I was just wondering
what class? The thing only gets 15mpg according fueleconomy.gov How
gullible would General Motors think someone would be to buy a Tahoe for
its great gas...

Floorpans by
blackwidow
I am aware that the beetle repo floor pans these days have a couple
problems:
1. the metal they are made of is of rather low quality
2. there are problems getting the front tracking to fit and work
properly
My main question is this: Dose anyone know of a company which makes
stainless steel floor...

engine problem by
george taylor
Ok, I am not sure what is causing this, maybe someone will know. I rebuilt a
1600 single port and went through and adjusted the valves. Everything lined
up correctly (valve wise) starting at #1 at tdc. When I crank the motor
instead of it sucking in air it blows out of the carb. Did I some how...

Better Gas Mileage by
[email protected]
To All:
Several people have written to ask what they can do to go a little
farther on a gallon of gasoline. Often times they cite some really
dismal figures, such as 14mpg for a bug or 12 for a bus.
Basic rule for stretching your mileage is to drive slower. Alas, that
isn't always possible here...

Flaps & Thermostat by
Joao Eliseu
While I was replacing my heater cables and since I was under the car, I took a look
on the thermostat. I was surprised when I fond that the thermostat was fixed only
by the rod that comes between the cylinder #1 and #3. It should be attached to the
support by a screw and a nut. I took the...

Looking for a Thing top in the Seattle area by
Jonah Edwards
Just (finally!) got myself a '74 Thing, but it has no top. I need
either a hardtop or a frame (I can get a soft top pretty easily), and
I'd prefer to get it locally. Already talked to Bow Wow Cars, they
don't have any leads. Reply here or to if
you've got one you'd like...

Spark plugs by
bug '59
Hi all,
Probably a lame question, but ask it anyhow.
Is there a torque spec. on the sparkplugs?
I'm told not to tighten it too hard because the treads will be "eaten out"
after a while. Is this true, and what is too tight?
Any advise is very welcome.

Sad new for fans of Gilligan's Island. Gilligan(Bob Denver) has passed

Brembo rear drums by
Tony Bennett
Hi
Just received some of the above which I bought off ebay. Call me
suspicious, but does anyone know how to identify the genuine Brembo part
rather than a cheaper drum.
Thanks for any info or links to pictures etc.
The are to fit my 1972- but I think rear drums are fairly universal anyway.

Auto Chokes by
Bill Payer
Are the two choke elements on the twin-carb 1800 the same? It appears that
the choke flap inside the the two carbs moves in different directions, one
clockwise the other anti. Both the elements in my bus move in the same
direction when heating.
Any advice??
Cheers.
