Ultrasonic Cleaning by [email protected]
I recently obtained a used benchtop heated, ultrasonic cleaning unit. I am hoping to use it to clean carburetors, bearings and other small misc parts. One thing I have heard about is "flash rusting" as a result of the reaction of the cleaning chemicals with the surface of the metal. Have any of you...

Catalytic converter by Bill Johnston
Hello, I have a '78 Buick Regal with a 3.8 l 231cc V6. The catalytic converter, due to corrosion and to a rather unfortunate recent incident with a railroad crossing, is in a very badly mangled condition. I am told it costs $300 to replace. I also vaguely recall hearing that on old cars like...

Just purchased a 1987 Nissan Stanza, 4 cylinder. It's in amazingly good condition inside and out. I've only owned the car for a week. On two occasions I've noticed a small spot of oil on the garage floor after parking the car for the night. I'm only using the car to get to and from work which is...

Hi, I'm looking to give my 78 CJ7 a fresh coat of paint. Since i plan on replacing the body in the semi-near future, i'm not looking for it to be a professional job so i'm going to try to tackle it myself. My question is this... It's currently black with a clear top-coat. Its seen better days....

Noisy window, 1996 Ford Taurus by mc
The front passenger-side window always sounds as if it's not quite closed; it's actually a little quieter if I back off 1/8 inch from maximum closed position. What should I look for? Not having looked yet, I'm wondering if it's a misadjustment to the door latch so that the whole door isn't...

92 Pontiac Cooling Fan Problem by [email protected]
Can anyone tell me what switch causes the electric fans to turn on in front of the radiator on a 92 Pontiac GrandPrix? It's a V6 3.1L engine and generally runs okay without the fans however, recently I noticed that when it was running warmer than usual with the air conditioning on, the electric...

Bleeding Hydraulic Roller Lifters by [email protected]
I have a question about the roller lifters in my 96 Mitsubishi 2.4L 4 cyl SOHC engine. I just had the head and valves ground after my timing belt broke. Due to some bad information I had for timing the camshaft gear, I bent some of the intake valves during the cylinder head reinstall process. I...

Noise in front by muster
Hi, My car is a standard gear '96 Honda Civic. It has a big noise when going at low speed, especially when going up hill or making a sharp turn. The source of the sound is under the car, between front wheels and close to right wheel (probably). Do you have any clue what the problem could be?...
