VW Performance Parts by
newT2
I recently scored a '74 Bus, and it is the only old school model I
have never owned. Looking for anyone who might know of a good shop in
Portland Oregon.
Just looking for mild performance parts, not someone to do the work.
Thanks

Thanks.

Jan
I'm still tinkering ;)
Sadly, this one was made for a Chevy project. Works the same for VW though.

where to buy: taillight assembly? by
Shag
I was removing a bulb from the rear passenger side tail-light assembly
when the bulb fell apart in my hands. The base of the bulb was so
tight in the assembly that when I removed it with needle-nose pliers
it took part of the thin metal socket along with it. I need the piece
of the taillight that...

Need Help To Identify Hood by
LordPacal
Greetings All,
Just acquired a 74 VW Standard Type 1 AH-A 1600cc engine and having
trouble finding a replacement air vent for the hood. Saw one(chrome) on
BugCity-USA but not sure. Would probably prefer finding a black one as
the Bug has minimal chrome, but anything will do to hide the open...

What doors fit ? by
Terry[_4_]
I need to replace both doors on my 65' Bug but am hearing different
stories on what will fit. What year doors will fit a 65' ? I know the
door glass in a 63 is shorter, and not sure about a 67 except the door
handles and outer mouldings are different. Does that mean that just a
64, 65, and 66 will...

I'm baaaaaaack...... :-) by

'64 with sunroof. Every fender is dented, the hood doesn't close
right, the paint is faded and chipped, the shifter is creaky, the
steering wheel is crooked, the driver's side rear pan is rusted
completely through in one spot, but the heater channels are solid, I
just hit 82 mph with it on the...

Barrels to engine case - sealant or gasket? by
Howard Rose[_1_]
The engine top-end rebuild is coming along nicely now, mostly
assembled and pistons attached. Also repainted the tinware :-)
When putting the barrels on, I have heard two ways to seal them to the
engine case. The first is to use the round paper gaskets (as were on
this engine before I tore it...

Trailering question by
Al
We have a small flatbed trailer and I plan to roll my 1970 convertible
up onto it and tow her behind my motorhome. Question: I think I can
tie the straps onto the front torsion bar, but where should I attach
straps in the back?
Thanks
Al

electronic ignition by
Dennis[_4_]
would you guys give me your opinions on electronic ignition units and
what you think the best for the buck. There are a lot of new types
for sale and I don't know if the big spread in dollars has any basis
besides country of origin. Dennis

Liability for labour on faulty clutch by
totoisacat
had a clutch fitted to Mk1 Golf but it is as stiff as hell and is faulty
according to main VW dealers. I bought clutch from German Swedish. Should
they pay for labour for refitting of it? Are they liable for it legally? If
not i have to pay twice!
Any views appreicated

What size tap for fender nuts by
MK
Silly question, but what size tap will I need to clean the threads of the
fender nuts after bodywork? The local princess auto has some cheap sets for
$7.99, should be good enough to chase out some filler, just want to make
sure I know what size I'm looking for.

flushing transmission by
anton[_1_]
Hi,
got a used trainny to replace mine. I think rear seal is a bit worn
and input shaft moves around a bit. Is that normal? I will replace
most of the seals. like o-rings on cover plates and paper gaskets.
Besides this is there a fluid for flushing vw transmission. What is
the procedure? Or do...

Stranded during road trip by
[email protected]
Took the 78 vert on a little cross-country trip yesterday (cross-state
actually). Its a 78 1600cc fuel injected little beauty that I
recently purchased. I guess it hadn't been driven that far in a
while, but after about an hour on the road, the rotten egg smell was
overwhelming. I figured the...

71 bug project pics by
MK
Instead of just lurking, I've decided to contribute something, and have
posted some pics of my '71 (canadian, swing axle) standard bug project. This
is my first attempt at doing bodywork, I've been learning (and buying tools)
as I go. It's at the "primer" stage right now, maybe putting it on the...

Finding a good used bug by
[email protected][_1_]
Friend of mine introduced me to a newbie who wants a bug. This gal has
her heart set on owning a classic, so I agreed to go shopping with
her. We saw three bugs.
Bug #1 was a 1971 standard bug. Body wasn't too bad. Lowered, with a
Bob H. signature "Bitchin' sound system" Shifter was loose and...
