Bus Brakes by Dennis Wik
Note to self. Bus has two wheel cylinders on each front wheel with one adjustment star on each cylinder. I thought the bus was the same as the bug. Live and learn. Dennis href="http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=4025706&a=30209382&vt=vp">Den's 1977 Puma</a>

Hi all, We have a 74 Bug I'm hoping to get some advice on. Our fuel pump (mechanical) was leaking at the "seam" area so we purchased a new one and put it on today. We had no issues and the car was idling for about an hour while we adjusted the idle and were really just letting it run since it...

Do engine heads come in anything except aluminum? by watson524
Wondering if you can get heads in any other material than aluminum? Clearly steel would be too heavy but it seems I often hear that there's great concern about stripping the head when doing a plug change and since I'm about to go down that road, I'm wondering if head come in a "harder" material...

Checking the dynamo by Howard Rose
Hi, I've had some starting difficulties recently in that my car would lose charge overnight, or not charge up whilst I was driving. I am almost certain that the problem was the aging battery, but it's got me thinking about checking all other parts of the charging system to ascertain their...

What engine is this? by Bart Bervoets
Today a scrap dealer called me that he had a beetle engine in. I went to look, not a beetle, looks very similar though. Block looks like a 1600 but large gear in the center instead of pully, flat distributor, on heads are 2 valve covers with each a rocker arm, so one rocker arm per cylinder. Also...

Hey all. My left fender's headlight socket is rusted out so will need to be replaced. I guess I could fiberglass the socket, if push comes to shove but would like to know what my options are. I heard that, unless one get an original fender, it is best to buy them in pairs (left and right) so that...

Asking Again... by CMM
Hi, Is it possible to put a 1970 Type 2 motor and manual transmission into a Type 4 that used to have an automatic transmission? If so, is it a complex conversion or fairly easy? I can buy a 412 (w/o motor or tranny) for $150. It's a 1974 (if I recall correctly) w/ 4 doors.

I have lost the screw that adjusts the "step" part of the idle adjustment on a new Pierburg 34 PICT carbm and haven't been able to find another one.
