Why did they weld the holes in the refurbished rocker set? by [email protected]
They welded the little hole in each of the rockers on the adjustment screw end. I thought that maybe there had been a problem in that area with them breaking, so they welded them to make them stronger. Here is a link to the pic of the rocker set. I noticed that in the pic they do not show the...

Product review by Joey Tribiani
Hello Ramva-ites.... I made an engine adaptor years ago to put a vw engine on a standard roll around stand... didn't use it often as I always seemed to use a milkcrate(let the head studs set down through the openings) until it was to shortblock status, then install the flywheel.. .then I'd set...

Update to the saga by [email protected][_1_]
The head is still sitting on the ground tonight, I stretched out the pushrod tubes a bit after painting them and decided to fix the thermostat bracket attach point before I put anything back on. It seems like last time I did the re-seal job I didn't stretch the tubes, which could be what...

Gasket question by Eddie
I bought a stock fuel pump last night and I didn't realize until later that there was 2 of the same gaskets. The lower one . Would it make any difference if I use one on the top of the insulator block? -- Eddie -1965 Sedan http://picasaweb.google.com/feuerkafer

Steering issues - Multiple symptoms - one problem by [email protected]
This one was kind of fun ... in a terrifying sort of way. Thought I'd pass it along. The car in question is a 1968 type-3. The front brakes are disks. Rears are drums and adjusted equally. I replaced the ball-joints, tie- rod ends and rear spring plate bushings a little over a year ago. They are...

AFC fuel injection 1977 Beetle by [email protected]
I checked the OHMS of the number 2 temp sensor as specified by the maintenance manual. Bentley Manual. It was reading around 7,000 OHMS when it should of been around 2,500 OHMS. So I ordered a new sensor from Aircooled.net I installed it last night and as I suspected the car ran rough so I had...

Installing a 60,000 Volt Ignition Coil by [email protected]
I'm getting a new coil installed. Do I need to re-adjust the dwell/ points? And most importantly can I use the same wires and spark plugs and what would I re-gap the spark plugs to? These are the original style Bosch spark plugs for this '77 Fuel injected Standard Beetle sedan.

I'm gonna need some more advice on the Vee Dub by [email protected]
Today I changed the fuel filter on this fuel injected Bug. I still hear noise coming from the gas tank when the fuel pump is running. Is there an extra screen inside the tank that might be clogged? It sounds like water is bubbling inside the gas tank or there might be an obstruction somewhere...

Cooling flaps - sell or trade by [email protected][_1_]
Couple years back I happened across a set of what I thought were type 1 cooling flaps along with a thermostat, spring, and thermostat bracket. I intended to use these in my 1600 dual port. Tonight, with the engine on the ground for some repairs I decided to try and fit the flaps..and they don't...

KP and BJ springs different? by [email protected]
We are going through a stash of parts from a local fellows barn. We have a bundle of torsion bars that are tagged as having come from a 70 type-1. Will these work on a king-pin front end from a 1960 bug? Max

Wheel weights by John J[_3_]
I just had a guy on another forum ask why heavy wheels (or hubs) are a Bad Thing, IOW he seems to think that heavy wheels are not a factor concerning performance of a street machine. Is it not obvious?
