156 1.8TS Starter Motor screech by Makollig Jazvahted
Typically in the morning, or even if it's been parked for just a couple of hours sometimes, start the car and there a pretty awful, screech, squeal.. call it what you will from the starter motor. Googling suggests that it's clutch dust csuung the starter to stick on the flywheel, although I'm...

Alfa 147 new special edition? by Davs
Hi Group 2 weeks ago I put my deposit for a brand new alfa romeo 147 Collezione 1.9 JTD 3 door, black. The dealer, the biggest in the UK, at first told me that there were none left due to the limited number available (only 500) but then apparently managed to find one. However a few days ago they...

Emissions Fail.... argh! by SteveH
Well, I'm a more than a tad ****ed off with that. 9 month old catalyst has been diagnosed as being at fault when the 156 went for it's MOT - which I find a little odd. Can anyone interpret the results for me? (Oil temp. was 93 degrees) Fast Idle: RPM 2680 Pass

156 engine by R D S
A couple of questions regarding 156 engines, mines a 2002 2.0TS Is the head on a 1.8 the same as a 2.0? And can a petrol lump be replaced with a diesel? Or would there be too much other stuff to change? Cheers, Rick

Cloverleaf Club by Graeme Cosgrove
Just got the magazines through the post...interesting comments about moving the "brand" upmarket and the impact this is having on the dealer network. Top 5 in the JD Power survey is a tall order, as is the target to sell 20,000 cars a year in the UK. GT and Brera are the best looking things on...

What car if not a 156? by R D S
If you loved your 156 but for some reason had to get a different car, what would it be? What would push some of the same buttons?

Argh! by SteveH
Full 156 interior I mentioned a couple of weeks ago on ebay is back on - for £35 BIN or 'best offer'. Just down the road, too. Should I offer him 20 quid and settle on 25 then worry about fitting the seats in the 75 later? -- SteveH 'You're not a real petrolhead unless you've owned an Alfa...

156 1.8TS Overheating by Gareth Hill
I've recently started having problems with my 156 1.8TS overheating. I generally use a local mechanic who I trust and can afford rather than the local Alfa dealership, but we are struggling to find the cause for the problem. I'm not a mechanic but am hoping we can find a solution without resorting...

Newbie cam-belt woes by [email protected]
Hi, Yet another cam-belt question, I'm afraid: I've just bought a 2002/51 156 2.0TS. It's on 39,000 miles and was last serviced at 30k, in late 2005 (the 36k service was performed). While it's due a service, my immediate concern is the cam-belt, considering that Alfa now say it should be changed...

Rear window again by Steve Byatt
I know this seems to have been covered a million times but.. rear window stuck open; it's happened before but has sorted itself out. This time it seems well and truly stuck. How do I get the door panel off? Apologies if this seems really stupid as I know a lot of you out there do really...
