Inline Fuse For CB Power Cord by Harry Face
Plugged in one of the CB radio's today ( in the Buick ) and the 2 amp inline fuse blew. Could this of been caused by the wires being two different sizes? The wires coming out of the lighter plug going to the fuse holder are about 2 sizes bigger than the wire coming out of the fuse holder...

96 Astro/Safari - any good? Opinions Please! by NewMan[_1_]
I am thinking about buying a used GM Safari Van. Model year is 1996, and it has about 180,000 kms. I don't know a thing about these vans. Is there any known problems? (other than the gas guzzling 4.3l engine!) Anything I should look out for? Are these vans hard to work on resulting in higher...

Why do car manufacturers charge so much for replacement parts? by gassyal
Hi group: I've been considering purchasing an old Geo Metro for commuting purposes because of the good gas mileage it gets. When I looked at a 1997 Geo Metro offered for sale in my area by a private party, he told me that he owned the car about 6 months and when he acquired it, he had to put a...

Is this my transmission ?? I can't go over 40 in drive or o/d but it does in 2nd gear. Just not sure this is a transmission problem as it ran so well. Had a bunch of wiring and other work done by a backyard type mechanic. All was well till about a week later and while driving it all of a sudden...

The best oil change shop I ever seen by loron
I'm on the road quite often because of my job. Lately I was in the Easley, SC area. My car needed an oil change and there was a shop close to where I was working so I decided to go there. Wow! What a service. That is the best I ever had. I was shocked since all the technician are female. They are...

EVAP control system leak by [email protected]
I got a 98 Honda Accord. From more than a year ago, I spell gas around the gas tank whenever I finish driving and exit. Now the check engine light is on and I find the code to be 90. My Haynes manual says it's P1456 -- 90 -- EVAP control system leak near fuel tank P1457 -- 90 -- EVAP control...

I have a 97 Accord with about 180K miles. I had my air conditioning refilled with R134a two years ago. I almost always run the AC even in cooler weather. So perhaps its ready for another refil. I recently headed on a road trip through the Southwest. Its 110 degrees here in Las Vegas. The air...

Just bought a 1996 Monte Carlo with a 3.1 engine. On the purge valve /control solenoid there is a vacuum line that isn't hooked up. It's the one located toward the bottom of the solenoid. I noticed this when I was changing spark plugs and thought that I might have accidentally pulled it off but...

when to inspect / replace timing belt 1993 Buick by samsplace
My 1993 Buick Century Wagon with a 3300 V6 has just over 99,000 miles on it. When, if ever, does the timing chain need to be serviced? The local dealer said don't worry about it and I'm inclined to go along with that. What if it makes it to 150,000 miles - should it be inspected then? I do not...

1991 Dodge Caravan, When I turn on the headlight switch, the running lights come on but not the headlights, until I pull the turn indicator up, and the high beams come on, but only if you hold it, and the lows never come on. I described the problem to the auto parts store tech and he recommended...

Yokohama H4S vs. TRZ for Corolla in southern California by [email protected]
Hi, The Yokohama H4S and TRZ tires are highly rated by users at Tire Rack and nearly identical in price so I am wondering what nuances might tip the decision to one side or the other. It gets hot here in the summer and when it rains it can come down hard so I was feeling the higher traction and...

cleaning valve body on camry by davemac[_1_]
Greetings. My wife's '93 Camry XLE has experienced a hard 1-2 shift for at least 3 years now. Besides this, the tranny (A540E) seems to be fine. With a firmer throttle, the shift smooths out. It is most severe at a low acceleration. I have adjusted the throttle pressure cable going into the...
