A4 grease visible by
Sue Ridge
Cleaning my A4 this morning I noticed black grease coming through the spoke
areas on the alloy wheel rim and a coating on the inside surface of the rim.
There is also a splashing of grease, black/grey, around the inside wheel
arch.
Looks like a seal may have gone on a CV or whatever they call...

A6 Avant ground clearance by
boris
Hi,
I'm just curious: what's A6 Avant ground clearance?
From what I heard, Avant ground clearance is < 5in - is that true?
Also, can Avant be had with underbody skid plates?
I have Subaru Forester...it has >7in and skid plate for rear differential.
Thanks,
Boris

PICS: New Audi R8 HYDRAULIC FAILURE - Burns to ground. by
JLA
You know all the Ferraristis aren’t getting a kick out of these images
featuring a brand new Audi R8 burned to the rubber? Well, according to
the guy who posted the pics on R8talk, “Ti_Mike”, the fire was caused
by a failure in the gear box hydraulic system. There’s no way to
verify this, but...

diesel fuel filter by
Huw
Anyone know how to drain water from the fuel filter of new diesel Audi's, in
particular the Q7 3.0?
There doesn't seem to be a drain at the bottom of the filter and the change
interval is 40,000 to 45,000 miles. I can almost guarantee that it will
accumulate some water by then.

1999 A6 Oil Light - Can the servicer set frequencies by
... /\\/\\ i k e
I recently stopped taking my 99 A6 to the dealer, and started taking it to
an independent. I got a tuneup and oil change at about 91,000 miles. Its
been 10,000 miles, and the oil and service lights have just come on.
(The oil light used to go on after about 7,500 miles).
Is that something that...

Free to good home - rear brake discs/pads for '96 A6 by
Jonathan Morton
I stumbled across these while having a garage clear-out. Sadly my 1996 A6
2.5 TDI was sold before I fitted them.
They are a pair of Zimmermann discs, originally from German & Swedish, Audi
part number 8D0 615 301A, with Pagid pads to match. Both discs and pads are
obviously completely unused...

Audi 1.8 cylinder head bolt question by
No Name
I have a 2001 Audi A4 1.8 turbo engine. I am trying to get the cylinder
head off. Can anyone tell me what size tool I need to fit the head
bolts? I think they are maybe T-50 torx, but not sure. The tool has to
be long to fit down inside the bores. If anyone knows what tool to use,
and...

Which Vag-Com? by
Jim Elbrecht
My wife has a '97 VW Cabrio, and my son has a '98 Audi A4.
The Cabrio needs a scan- and I'm thinking it is a good time to get
the cables and software and learn to do it myself.
I have a laptop with USB.
But now I see there are a few choices- Cables on Ebay for $20- Ross
Tech for $99. . . ...

A4: general how-to's for replacing a Delta CC stereo with 3rd-party? by
Bart Oleksy
I used to hook up my own stereos (head units) way back in simpler times,
but had trouble with my '86 CGT, and now want to work on my '97 A4 2.8
with the Delta CC stereo. The display has a bad patch, and there's no
CD changer in the car, so I wanted to replace it with a stereo with CD
that had...
