156 brake pipes. by
Simon Mason
My wife had a brake failure on our 1999 156 1.8T. The garage says a brake
pipe has rusted through and all the fluid escaped. Just thought I'd mention
it so that people can inspect theirs for similar corrosion.

156 Brake/Clutch fluid reservoir. by
Hughes.
My clutch is currently dysfunctional due to a leak from the slave cylinder seal
(in)conveniently located in the gearbox, what confuses me is that the brakes
still work fine, even though both systems run from the same reservoir.
Brake pedal has plenty of pressure, but the clutch pedal goes to the...

156 bulb warning light by
Makollig Jassvahted
Bloody good isn't it? The thing comes on every time one of the number plate
lights is a bit dodgly, a little tap on the number plate bulb holder sorts
it out.
Now, with a blown N/S dipped headlight bulb it *doesn't* come on.
'Twas tricky removing the duff bulb, I'm thinking it going to be even...

Hi,
I have just had a cambelt failure at 67k on my 156 2.0 TS. I am taking
Alfa UK to small claims court, and would very much welcome any
information about service schedules, alfa policy, dealer advice,
previous cases of payments etc etc.
If I win, I intend to go to the media too, to make sure...

156 Cargo net size by
GT[_14_]
Anyone know if the cargo net accessory is the same size for the 156 saloon
(2002) as the estate? (The stretchy net thingy that clips into the bottom of
the boot to stop your pint of milk and mars bar from rolling around)

156 CD changer by
Simon C
Gareth
I have the 2.4JTD from 2002 with the same sound system and as far as I can
remember, you will need an Blaupunkt changer unit and all the wiring already
exists in the rear of the car.
If you lift the carpet in the boot, you should find the wiring under there.

156 Centigrade and Farenheit by
Ed
Hi,
Had my 2003 156 2.4JTD for about a month/1500 miles now and extremely happy
with it. However one thing is puzzling me - the climate control readout is
in Farenheit, although the owners manual shows it in Centigrade...........Is
there a way of changing this somehow? Or is it an undocumented A-R...

Martin
Hi,
Going to be getting a new child seat for my son soon (currently 7 months,
but BIG!), want him to stay rear facing as long as possible, but it looks
like I will need to get a next stage seat by around 9 months.
Anyone got any views on car child seats (9 months-4 years) for the 156...

Barry Bingham
Friend has a 156 1.6 (49K on the clock) which has started emitting a
graunching noise (chalk on a board) when on the biting point in first at
traffic lights etc. Doesn't always do it but is becoming more common. Also
I tried releasing the clutch pedal with the handbrake on and the engine,

Am now having a clutch pedal problem, which only appears when the car is

156 cold start splutters by
BillC
My 1998 156 1.8 ts takes a while to run smoothly on starting. I have to
feather the throttle for a few minutes and even then the power surges until
it warms up. Anyone had a similar experience?

I thought to try fix some minor scratches myself. But there is no color code
label anywhere in the trunk. My 'users manual' in french and looking at
pictures there is should be. Now how to determine the color?

156 Crosswagon: yes or no ? by
Diego
Hello everybody. This is my first message here.
I would like to know if anybody here got a Alfa Romeo 156 Crosswagon, and if
he is satisfied. What's good in this car, and what's bad ?
Thank you very much for your answers. Pics of your car would also be
appreciated.

156 dampers by
Catman
I dove the TS and the V6 back to back today. The V6 seems bouncier,
dunno if it's te extra weight, but I'm thinking of some new dampers.
Suggestions?

156 dashboard by
Ppelectron
I have a 156 (right hand drive) and just to the right of the sterring wheel and
a little bit below it there is a panel in the dashboard that hides some relays
/ fuses etc. (i.e. next to the drivers door). It has started to fall away from
the dashboard and apart from 3 plastic lugs at the top of the...

156 door speakers by
Ppelectron
In previous discussions on here, it was said that intermittent front door
speakers in the 156 were often due to a dirty connector between the door wiring
and the stereo wiring. Can anyone tell me whether the connector lives in the
door or is it behind the trim in the footwell? I don't want to take...
