1998 E36 M3 convertible - after the battery is re-connected by mcquarrie
I am planning to do some work on the car, (replace speaker, adjust conv top, replace microfilter), before which, everywhere I read, it seems advisable to disconnect the battery. After re-connecting the battery, a friend with another M3 said the engine did not run very well, but got better after a...

How does the car communicate with the dealer? by Pete
In the newer BMWs, in the US at least, the car sends out info to the dealer that it is due for service or some malfunction requires it to be serviced. Does anyone know what technology is used to transmit this info? Is it an SMS sent out through a cell phone built in the car? Thanks, Pete

735i Overheating problem by BMW 1991 735i
Just purchased a used BMW 91 735i. Immediately changed the heater core because of overheating problems. The car ran fine for almost exactly 1 week. Checked the coolant level and needed to add 1 gallon of antifreeze after week 1. Six days later, the same thing. Eventually, each time the car is...

525 TDS difficult to start by Nick
I have a 525TDS which has done approx 130,000 miles and is approx 10 years old. (I believe this engine is also used in the 2.5 ltr diesel Range Rover ) It has become increasingly difficult to start on occasions, which seems time-related to when it was last run. About 3 months ago it was difficult...

New X5 watch the warranty and poor service departments... by Gary Rall
I bought a new x5 this year and was told that everything was covered except the tires and gas under the extensive warranty. When I picked it up the steering wheel was off center about 3 degrees but the car tracked straight on so I did not worry about it... I did call service and they said...

2000 E39 key remote by MWong
The one key remote I have for my BMW all of a sudden stopped working. I have only had the key for about a year and a half. Is there an easy way to determine whether the problem is with the key, or the receiver or whether the key is being charged while in the ignition? This is the key that I use on...

centrifugal fan clutch (sp) by [email protected]
Obviously the fan engages through centrifugal force but is there a cut out for temperatures too. I have had mine replaced and now every time I put my foot down I can hear the fan whirring away. Is this supposed to happen when the engine is cold as well as hot? pete

E30 Springs by MarkS
Hi all, I need to replace the coil springs on all four corners of my 1990 UK 320iSE as I have found a broken front and a broken rear coi. The question is whether the SE model was fitted with anything other than the standard E30 spring? I think the car looks a bit lower than non-SE E30s but maybe...

Harsh Ride on 2002 325i by Randy
I just bought a used 2002 325i in like new condition, only 30,000 miles. I love the car except for the harsh ride. Every bump is felt unless I am on a very smooth highway. I notice the tires 225 45 ZR 17 are not very thick like other cars. Does this have something to do with the rough ride. ...
