Cylinders 2-4-6 Too Rich by
JoeBeem
My independent has had my car, a 1990 525i for too long. He has found
that the cylinders 2-4-6 are getting way too much gas from the
injectors. He originally put a new air mass meter on it, no change,
that wasn't it. He thought it was the computer that controlled the
injectors, that wasn't it. ...

Car stuck on Full throttle???? by
Ben Martin
My car "redlines" when I start it.
It is like the throttle is stuck.
In a previous post, I suggested something to do with th transmission was on
the fritz. But that is most likely incorrect. After futher consideration
it seems that my throttle is somehow stuck on wide open.
Any ideas???
Thanks...

New member, Some Q about Vanos by
Bimmer328
Hey Guys,
I just joined this group today, it seems to contain alot of useful
information. My question is concerned with an 2000 E46 328ci. I would
like to ask if any member here has experienced a sudden, silent stall
while driving. It happened to me while I was driving on the interstate,
my car...

2006 330xi - I don't want the run-flat tires. Can do? by
Mike Mayer
The new '06 330xi comes with 225/45R 17" run flats. I don't want them.
That tire by the way, is a 25" outside diameter tire.
I would rather go with something more conventional for the rough NE Ohio
winters - wider sidewall aspect to absorb the rougher roads is a good start,
and even the Bimmer...

Alternative Transmission Fluid for 1999 528i, automatic ??? by
Jack C. Wang
The car shop initially quote me ~$600 for the ATF change. Later he said he
found a cheaper but still all synthetic fluid which will cut the cost to
~$350.
I did research online for BMW ATF. Many people attempted other non-vendor
ATF with success. Still others gave opinions with uncertainty...

E39 540i by
Dan Buchan
I'm thinking of getting a 540, probably a Touring. What sort of things
should I look out for? I've seen mention of pre- and post-facelift models,
piston ring modifications re excessive oil burning. Obviously the earlier
cars are cheaper. I will probably go for an automatic. Are they...

electric window problem by
Vijay
1996 EVO M3 UK 118,000 miles.
Normally, when the door is shut, the glass window raises a little to
effect the airlcok and when the door opens, it lowers itself an inch or
so. This is for airtight locking of doors, I presume.
My passenger side window stopped doing this suddenly. The...

540i speedometer off by
dwilli
'02 540I sport. I bought it CPO in August '04 with 29,000 miles. It had
front end damage, repaired, but the speedometer reads 5 mph high in the
50-80 mph range. It's not a real problem except it's tacking up more miles
on the odometer than is really on the car. (and I always have to figure it
in...

Performance Chips by
ETW
I have been looking at performance chips promising more horsepower and
better fuel economy. Prices range from $4 to over $400. Many are no-name
items sold on e-bay and some are well know names like Conforti and Dinan.
Does anyone have any first hand experience with these chips. Do they
actually...

is there a doctor in this group ? by
frischmoutt
To provide some good recommendations about the way to avoid contamination
from the Avian Influenza .
What shall do if there's bird poo on my car ?
Shall I risk to get the paint damaged, shall I remove it with gloves, a mask
and a sanitary suit or shall I sell the car ASAP ? ;=))

BMW Maintenance Upgrade - Is this a good deal? by
Phil
I recently bought a used 330Xi with 45K miles on it. Its a 2003 model
year. It runs and looks great! I love it. I bought from a BMW dealer so
its Certified Pre-Owned. The dealer recommends I get the Maintenance
Program Upgrade before it reaches 50K miles. This costs $1185.
Apparently this program...

I see that "Consumer Reports" rate BMW's very low. Actually most
European cars are crap. Benz the worst. VW trouble. Audi junk.
I was contemplating getting a BMW, but not now.

I have owned numerous Jap cars over the past 20 years. I am, for the first
time looking at a BMW 740i. Are they noted to be as dependable as the jap
cars? I have put between 200K-300K miles on most of my Jap cars. Can I
expect the same with the BMW's? Are they as easy to work on as the...

Hello,
Is there a bulb inside the digital clock? It's part of the trip
computer on my '98 M3 - the computer works and displays fine. The clock
is still working - I can see the time in strong sunlight - but it's
completely dim otherwise.
If there is a bulb I imagine changing it involves pulling...

I thought maybe gas. I changed the fuel filter and the spark plugs. No
