VFW
Just yesterday the Van wouldn't start and I eventually figured out the
Positive battery connection had turned white , a little wire brushing
and we were good to go.
The Q. is what ointment would keep moisture out but not form a greasy
barrier to the connection. a kind of dielectric bond /...

Sill drains by
John[_28_]
Trying to find a leak which only occurs during intense rain. Like now. On a
type 3 there is the aluminium mouldings on top of the door sill. When you
remove them there is 3 drain holes. Where is the corresponding drain holes
in the bottom of the sill?. Seems to be slight bevels on the under side...

what is the inside width of a super at the B pillar by
DaveWV
Here's the scenerio:
I found a 73 super shell with a good title. All the windows are good,
interior's decent but the floor pans are gone. The bottom most part
behind the door opening is spread apart enough that the doors won't
close or latch.
I'm hoping to find the horizontal measurement directly...

Flaps! by
John Stafford[_3_]
OMG - wonder of wonders, while cleaning out the garden shed I came upon
a box of perfect, hot-painted, rust-free flaps, connecting rods,
thermostat, spring and fasteners, all packed nicely in dry newspaper.
....but I was looking for a distributor. :(

A good read by
[email protected][_1_]
http://www.vw-resource.com/cooling.html
It's a typical Bob Hoover sermon, i.e. good stuff....but for whatever
reason I had not found or read this one until tonight. Granted, I've
known about the cooling ability(or limitations thereof) of the VW
engine since about 1996 when I got my first bug and...

Fuel line diameter by
Mel[_3_]
Way back, I had replaced the metal fuel line that runs through the tunnel
with one that runs alongside the tunnel on the inside of the car.
I'm trying to find out if the diameter makes a difference specifically with
respect to fuel consumption.
The fuel line diameter is larger than the...

Weber Carb - enrichening circuit? by
John Stafford[_3_]
I am having some serious backfire issues at RPM < 2,000. It sounds a bit
like a carb I had once where the enrichening circuit stuck open. I'm
wondering if one of the Webers has the same issue.
True or false: Weber 40mm and 44mm carbs have an unused enrichening
circuit (for choke) ?
I'm...

3/8 whit threaded rod!. by
John[_28_]
Useful stuff. Bent one double to make a U bolt to compress trailing arms
when I did my ball joints and then eventually gathered enough courage to try
and extract the bottom half of my broken
fuel pump intermediate flange. Ground/cut/shaped one end away to form a "L"
shaped lip so I could pass...
