156 2.5 V6 Blown Head by arwmarshall
I've blown the head gasket on my 156 2.5 V6. this is heart-breaking in more than the usual number of ways. I put a new clutch in it only 5 months ago. the car has a full dealer history, and off course, I love it. Unfortunately pressures at work have meant that I have not been at home much over the...

Tuning boxer twin Weber 40 IDFs myself - Easy? Possible? Unwise? by Regan
With my coolant problems out of the way (thankyou everybody for your advice) and my new flexible brake lines ordered the only thing left to do for the contrôle technique (french MOT) is the emission levels which were at 7.6% CO (pass is at 3.5%). I've just adjusted the timing (was a degree or two...

156 - Variator by savamac
OK - the dreaded "diesel rattle at startup" is back. Question - can the variator be replaced without doing cambelt etc. at the same time (I had cambelt done 12000 miles / 32 months ago) ? Dave S... 156 2.0 SP2 '98 :>)) It's only rock 'n' roll ...

aircon problem by Steve Byatt
Just had a hose replaced on airconditioner (don't ask me what kind of hose or where it went) on a 156 GTA (78000 miles). I'm now getting cold air again, but I hear a clicking-- like a pump starting or a relay struggling -- somewhere under the bonnet, low down o/s and every time it makes the noise...

156 - Water Pump by savamac
My 156 (1998 2.0 SP2, 64k miles) is coming up for service and MOT. There are a number of items that may need attention, so I'm looking for advice and guidance from the group (this may involve a number of posts, so please bear with me). I've noticed a number of posts where people mention that...

2002 147 selespeed revving by dt Kruger
My 147 seems to rev quite a bit between 1,2,3 gears. Only seems to do it when very cold in the mornings. Now when I say cold I mean South African winter, like never colder than 0 deg celcius outside. Doesn't matter if I've got it on city or if I click it manually. Anyone else have this?

156 - Stalls soon after starting by Steve
Hi I just wondered if someone could shed any light onna problem which my 156 has started to show. Soon after starting, the idle becomes very erratic, jumping up and down +500 revs. Frequently, the revs drop to zero, the stall lights briefly show, before the engine wakes up and sorts itself out....

147 service due, cambelt change needed? by rk164
Hi, I have a 2003, 03 plate 147 2.0 manual. Its coming up to its 3rd anniversary next month which means time for the annual service. Its done a little over 15k miles. Do I need to consider changing the cambelt at this service given the low mileage? Also should the service be a 36k service or...

156 hesitant start/low rev stalls by Barry Bingham
Anyone recognise this (on a 2.0TS, 2000 vintage): Recently the car has occasionally started and "died" at first attempt. It has required a second turn of the key to get going and stay running. This symptom is occasional but becoming more frequent. Once running it goes as well as ever. A few days...

selespeed problems by dogtown
Hi folks, I've got a beautiful 156 selespeed 2000 vintage but...I can't get into 4th gear. Problem I've got is if I change up it goes 1,2,3 then misses 4 and into 5. If I try and change down from 5 it loses the plot and revs a bit and then stays in 5. But if I doubleclick the button or the stick...

turn signal indicator switch problem on 156 by mike
I have an intermittent problem with the turn signal indicator switch on my 156 2.0l TS. When it happens, neither direction indicator will work. tapping the stalk upwards or downwards causes the odd 'blink' but it won't stay on even though the stalk locks in position. Seems like a bad connection...
