Back in Miami by
ChrisKlinger
Hello Group. Back after 13 years. Sad to have noted Bob Hoover's
passing.
Beside Veeduber, missing SpeedyJim, VWgirl (became Jan's
wife), and a few dozen that I can't recall at the moment - Sorry
if you belong on my list and were not mentioned by name.
Happy to be back
Chris

Congratulations America! by

Congratulations with you new president, great speech!
Screw the female poet, what a waste. Aretha was great though.

axel removal w/o impact wrench by
Animal
I'm trying to get the axle nut off of my '73 Bug (IRS) without the help
of an impact gun. I've used Muir's idea of a breaker bar with a 1" x 3'
pipe cheater, but have only manged to torque off the socket nub on two bars.
I've poured Liquid Wrench on the nut, I've heated it up with a torch,
I've...

"hypothetical" question by
Shag
Suppose you have an air-cooled VW engine with transmission attached to
it and the half-shafts are in place and the wheels are attached and no
fluids have been drained... Now you have this combination sitting on
the floor of your garage but it's taking up a little more room than
you'd like it to. ...

Fuel smell by
YMC
Hi,
I've got a 1641cc engine - pretty fast Beetle - but lately its starting to
smell of petrol esp. after I reved it hard.
I undid the fuel lines and screwed the clampers on again - and that seemed
to help.
But can I replace them with something better than the original rubber hose
and...

New Project, first in Ramva ( I think) by
Jan[_3_]
At least I can't remember anyone else beating us to it, although I am
aware that there have been some related projects in the past between two
ramvaites but so far no results have been published. (grin)
Our unveiling of the project should take place around May 20, next year.
Until then, we...

Stalls on decelleration and when nose is down by
Mike Rocket J. Squirrel Elliott
Hi all,
I've been away for a while, enjoying the Wonderbus, and out camping in
our 84 water-cooled (evil, hiss hiss) Vanagon while I have been
outfitting with low-power lighting, and solar panels. That way, Mrs
Squirrel has a cozy and happy little home to camp in which makes her
happy. A happy Mrs...

How safe are these classic VWs...? by
Jonny the 8-Tracker
Microbus drivers seem to run the risk of losing their knees in a
front-on collision...is this true, how severe is it usually, and are
there ways to avoid such problems to a point (such as reinforcing the
car structure between the driver and the front of the car)? I'm looking
into getting a Microbus...
