Channel, firewall and crossmember replacement question by remco
Hi all Besides my channels, I also need to replace my front firewall. Found that out when I took the body off the pan recently and started poking around. Also, half of the rear cross member (that piece welded to the rear firewall, what the channel is welded to) is rusted out, so will also need to...

VW looking for opinions. by Bill Berckman
VW lost $1.29 bilion in North America last year and for some reason VW's chairman has a problem with that. There is some group of people that will be traveling around (hopefully in a Toyota) looking for peoples oponings about what people want in cars. (how about aircooled) Article is here....

Glad to be back by Chris Snyder
I used to post here on a fairly regular basis back in 2001, but haven't been here hardly at all in the past few years, mainly because school and work got in the way of my project. After contracting out the rewiring and engine work, I'm finally getting my '77 T1 ready to go, and have caught the...

Front torsion bar removal by
Not sure it is a good idea removing an entire front torsion bar. I have a beck spyder and removed the four "smaller bars" from the upper torsion housing because of the weight of the spyder. I did find that I had to use the adjustment nuts to reset the height i wanted. I also would be interested...

VW/Toyota Distributors (With My Notes) by Bret Ludwig
How does the advance curve work out for the VW? I'm assuming it must be OK or the main man (respectfully) would have mentioned something about modifying it. JohnF >First off, it's not a bolt-up. You have to do quite a bit of machining on the >Toyota distributor. That means you need access to...

stuck caliper by Dennis Wik
I had a caliper stuck. It turned out to be the hoses. The pressure of the master cylinder would force the fluid through the hose to engage the caliper but when the pressure stopped, the hose closed with the pressure remaining on the brake resulting in smoke and lots of heat. Never had that...

Anyone near Greensboro, Maryland? by Noice87
Looks like I may just have to tow it home with a Bug Tow. Might be getting another Bug up that way. What's the best way to haul two back long distance? I have seen one on a trailer pulling another with a Bug Tow? Anyone know a cheap car trailer rental? Thanks Steven

Dizzy Question by Bugzai
75 SB Converted to Carb After gloating how my Bug was purring...it crapped out at a stop light. Wouldn't turn over several times. Adjusted points, enough to get it sputtering to a idle with lots of gas. Found out that the ball bearing metal holder was broke and the ball bearing was rolling inside...
