1995 MKIII VW Golf Jetta Sunroof problem by
[email protected]
Hi,
It seems the sunroof is a common problem in the MK3-MKIII VWs. I'm a
novice when it comes to DYI repairs, but I've got various tools and
manuals and such. But here's the problem:
The roof will move up and down almost fine, but when I want it to slide
back and forth it will move about half an...

Oil filter drain screw 95 VR6 by
Tom's VR6
I had the oil changed about a month ago. I saw some driveway
spotting. The oil is clean, so it was not initially obvious.
Looking under the car, I see a hole in the bottom of the filter cap.
I was thinking there was a drain bolt that should go in the hole in
that round metal insert that is inset...

Jim Pineau[_1_]
Hello All,
I have a seatbelt question. The belts in my '94 Jetta are those connected to
the door, totally bad idea type. Has anyone ever ripped these out and
replaced them with normal belts? Any suggestion are greatly appreciated.

96 Jetta P0501 code by
zatatime
Hello,
I just purchased a 1996 Jetta GLS that is throwing a P0501 (Vehicle
Sensor A - Range/Performace) code.
It starts cold perfectly and runs for a while without problems. After
it warms up, it will stall at idle, or low rpm if not under load.
After it stalls I need to wait anywhere from 40...

Jeremy[_3_]
Hi folks,
I have a 94 Golf, purchased in March of this year with relatively high
kms... generally runs great, a few items to be addressed in the near
future but a strong engine and great car.
Anyway, it's been creeping up toward 300,000 kms, and the other day
when the big rollover was about to...

1990 Carat digifant- yellow substance in ECV by
IR
I was changing the valve cover gasket on my 90 Carat
digifant and when replacing the ECV into the valve
cover, I noticed a few drops of water starting to drip
out of the ECV (and into the engine...)
So I started shaking the ecv and this Yellow vomit-like
substance came out, a lot of it, the thing...

Auto transmission ignores the redline? by
Bert Hyman
I have an '02 Passat wagon with the 1.8T engine and automatic
transmission.
This AM I had to do a full-throttle merge onto a freeway. I happened
to glance at the tach and noticed that I was well inside the red
zone, so I got off the gas immediately.
Is the indicated redline merely a suggestion,...

no power to coil by
[email protected]
I'm putting an 86 cabrio engine in a 85 vanagon and all is hooked up
and fine except I'm getting no power to the coil (+,15) I am getting
power about everywhere else.
I'm more into aircooled where you can throw any power to it ,so this
has me stumped.

2001 TDI - Smokey start, low cold power by
Rochester
I already had this issue at the end of last winter, I think I am better
solve it before the cold starts again:
I spew a lot of smoke and start with very low power in my 2001 VW Golf TDI.
Now at 100,000 mi, and no other issues to talk of. In fact the car gets all
the boost after it's warmed up....

2006 VW Jetta 2.5 alarm system by

Hello all,
My wife recently purchased a 2006 VW Jetta 2.5. Last weekend we
attempted to install an aftermarket alarm system, but the audio shop
told us that there is an adapter they need that is not available for
this car yet. Any ideas on why this is the case? Has anyone installed
an alarm system...

Auto Trans Question by
Brian Running[_1_]
We're talking about a '99 Jetta, 2.0, 4-speed auto transmission.
Doesn't belong to me, but I drive it about twice a year and do routine
maintenance on it.
About 6 months ago, I noticed what I thought was tire tread noise, the
kind that develops if the tires aren't rotated regularly. I advised...

Ultra-low sulfur in TDI by
Bob[_5_]
Many stations are now carrying ultra-low sulfur. I have heard different
things about this. For one it will harm current diesel engines. I have a
2004 TDI. Is what I heard true? Do I need to run additives to prevent
damage to the engine?
