Passat transmission sport code by
phill magnuson
I have a 99 Passat V6 w/ auto transmission. Is there a way to program
the transmission so that it is always in "sport" mode? supposedly the
transmission will go into "sport" mode when you depress the
accelerator all the way. I just don't want it to go back to "normal"
mode.
Thanks,

Passat "Check Engine" light on by
Batvanio
I haven't driven my 2004 Passat (4 -cylinder 1.8 turbo engine) for
about a week, and today when I started it, the Check Engine
(Malfunction Indicato) came on and after a few seconds the engine
started shaking. The light flashes for about a minute or so, and then
stays on. The car can still be...

how-to disable/remove security alarm in early 99 jetta by
Jack
I've recently acquired an early 99 Jetta (TDI, 1Z engine) and am now
de-bugging it.
The security alarm is erratic (horn beeps sometimes a minute after
pressing the lock button on the remote device, and the alarm fires at
odd intervales when parked); it seems my best bet is to remove...

Car Running HOT, NOW WHAT? by
HotRod
I purchased a 94 VW Golf Diesel a few months ago and it has been running
great, except for the fact that it has been running hot. When I first got
the car the temp gauge did not work so I replaced all of the temp sensors in
the RAD and water jackets, three in all. This got the RAD fan and temp...

Axle Flange Question by
Kent
Sorry for asking again, but I really would like to get the group's input on
this. When I removed my axle flanges, the large springs and thrust washers
that are supposed to be behind the flanges (according to Bentley) were not
there. I've been driving around like this for at least 100,000 miles....

It ran fine yesterday and prior. Today I go into the garage and all I see is some indicator lights on on the dash. Absolutely no other power, not even door lights or radio. The dash looks like this:
On the left-hand side:
The steering wheel icon is on solid red.
On the right-hand side:
ABS light...

Blinking red temperature light/engine hard to start by
Megan[_2_]
I have a 2000 1.8 Turbo VW Beetle. About once a month, the engine will have a
hard time turning on. It'll start, and then turn right off unless I give it
enough gas then it stays on. After driving for about 5 minutes, the red
temperature light blinks. When this happened about two months ago, it...

$2.5/gal in some parts of the state, like the Bay Area and San Diego,
