Bye bye Alfa by Scott McGregor
Hi Guys, I have finally had enough of my 156 v6. It failed its MOT again (only 4 years old). At least it is consistent with failing the 3 year MOT. My local Alfa dealer quoted me over £550 to fix the problem to get it through the MOT. After telling them to get lost I took the car to a local...

Knowing when to sell a car by R D S
Do some people have a knack of knowing when to sell a car. Our 156 we have had under 3 months has just come out of the garage after breaking down. It has had a new piston, various bearings and a camshaft. Do they know or are they just lucky. I wish you could X-ray a car before buying it. Rick

Alfa 156 brake lights by [email protected]
Is it easy to replace the brake pedal switch (on a JTS)? Lights tend to stay on.

droopy rear suspension on 156 by Humpty Dumpty
156 2L TS (2000W) SP3 One side at the rear is noticeably lower than the other - about 2cm I've only had a brief look around under the wheel arch and can't see anything obvious, but any suggestions of what could be the cause? Could it just be a knackered damper, or would that not cause a reduction...

bad service experience by dt Kruger
So I book my 2002 147 selespeed in, and decided to have _everything_ fixed. The bill came to 19450 South African rands (thats about 1500 in GBP). This included major service, new windshield wiper motor, selespeed gearbox adjusments to name a couple of major players on the bottom line. So all...

Camshaft belt by Wolfgang
Hello, my 166, equipped with a 2.5 liter engine, is now more than six years old, but has run only 46,000 km. Last week, somebody told me that I should change the toothed camshaft timing belt because, being so old, it could break some day. But since such a repair is extremely expensive (about ¤...

156 very poorly by R D S
Jumped on the motorway earlier, hammer down, picked up a reasonable speed then complete power loss. Coasted onto the hard shoulder, car wouldn't turn over properly on the key, suspected an electrical fault (I have been known to be optimistic). AA bloke turned up, put a booster on the battery, the...

Key broken by GT[_1_]
My 156 was registered in October 2002. It came with 2 keys and I dropped one and broke it, so it was replaced under warranty by a slightly larger, newer key about 18 months ago. So I have one original key that is still working fine and a new key that locked the car just fine last night, but...
