Manual for my '03 by Clark Friedrichs
I have been at several Miata sites this morning, and found on all sites, "Enthusiasts Manual 1.8." The problem is the manual covers up to the '97 model year and I have a '03. Any suggestions? Thank you. Clark -----

Harmonic Balancer by Larry
My mechanic sez the harmonic balancer in my '96 is disintegrating, and wearing a hole in the timimg belt cover. He's asking decent money to replace it, including waiting a week for the part to arrive at the dealer. Anybody else dealt with a disintegrating harmonic balancer? Or is this some kinda...

Timing belt failure, does it kill the motor on a Miata? by Mal Osborne
Anyone had one fail to know for sure? Some motors just stop until you put a new one on, where others have the pistons meet the valves, snapping then off dropping the mushroom bits into the combustion chamber and destroying the entire motor in a series of nasty load clunking noises.

Gas Pinging by Gary
I filled up my '91 Miata less than a week ago and used Mobil regular, as usual. I have rarely had a pinging problem with regular low octane gas. Now I have it. I will not know if this is an anomoly or if it will repeat. QUESTION: Is it possible that since hurricane Katrina, and the US relaxing...

Miata deficiencies. by XS11E
The other day I bought my usual losing lottery ticket and asked myself what I'd get to replace my 1992 1600 pretty much stock Miata if I won..... The answer I came up with is I'm almost completely satisfied with the car, it does what I want, seems pretty much trouble free and is always fun to...

acetone in gas - no uninformed skeptics allowed by josh
Does anyone have ACTUAL FIRST-HAND experience with the 0.2-0.3oz/gal mix of acetone with gasoline to boost octane and improve mpg in a Miata or Protege? And no, I am not interested in this whole discussion of how it's not approved, will eat up your seals, if it was true all gas would already...

98 Protege 1.5L 5 Speed Man Fluctuating Idle RPMs by rljt60
The 1.5L I just replaced ran fine but had loose rod bearing. There was no RPM problem. The newly installed engine came with everything attached (intake/exhaust manifolds, sensors, etc). Now at cold start-up the engine revs to 1000 RPM and shortly later idles down to 750 RPM. Turn on the A/C and...

98 Mazda 1.5L ECU/PCM Reset by rljt60
Having just installed a 1.5L into a Protege (5 speed manual) is it wise and even possible to reset the ECU/PCM so it has to "relearn" the engine. If so, how do you do it? Many thanks, Bill

overdrive not working by RodL
My son owns a 1998 Mazda 626 and the overdrive light comes on after he drives the car for about 1/2 hour. The car then shifts rough. We tried to have the codes read at a transmission shop and there were no error codes. Just today the light was flashing and shayed on for about 5 miles and just 3...

Replacement license plate light? by Scott Streeter
Anyone know where I can buy a replacement. The little plastic clip on the side broke so now the light just hangs out by the wire (have it duct taped up now). Figured I'd ask here first since anything from the dealer will be outrageously over priced. Thanks. -- Scott...

14" T1-S feel a bit slippy ... ? by josh
OK I have about 3K miles on my T1-S now, 2000 M2, 195/55-14's. I posted the alignment numbers a few months ago. They were reasonably close to the recommended numbers but with max neg. camber on the front (one side worse than the other). @29psi the tires definitely can grip and I've adjusted to...

Miata no more by pws
Well, I have decided to sell my one working miata. I will be out of the two-seater, drop-top scene, at least for a long while. I am still slowly parting out 3 miatas and may do the same with this turbo monster I am driving if I don't get a high enough offer on it. If I have discussed specific...

where to find dual exhaust systems by Tonyrama
Ok, so I took my baby in for an inspection sticker, and they're telling me that they can't sticker it because my muffler is cracked, and that it can't be fixed. While I doubt that it can't be fixed, it would seem like a good a time as any to upgrade to a dual system. Who makes a nice system? I...
