2000 E39 Sport by Mel Z.
So after getting all the opinions, I bought the car. It came with a telephone cradle hanging off the dash to the right of the radio. Of course there was no phone. Does anyone know if this was the factory location (it's all very neat and factory looking) and if so, what phone was used? Again,...

e28 525e/528e steering box by goose
Greetings all, I've got an '86 525e which is leaking fluid from the steering box. The exact spot is the nut on top of the box (with what seems to be a smaller screw in it). Do I have to shell out for a complete rebuild of the box (what the local mech said) or is it possible at all to replace all...

Person on budget: older BMW or newer Toyota, Nissan, Mazda...? by Big A
Hi, I'm an average Joe interested in buying a newer car. I have an '89 Volvo and I was thinking of buying something a little more modern. For someone like myself (looking for something of about $15K-$20K) would you recommend an older BMW (eg. a '97 5-series with less than 40K miles) or a newer...

How flexible is BMW leasing on FICO scores? by david olson
BMW seems to have some great leasing rates right now advertised on their web site. I have a medicore (690) FICO score due to a fair number of 30 day late credit card payments (but always ultimately paid of course) but I make well over 7 figures annually and have a bank account well over 7 figures...

E34 ('91 M5) gas gauge wonky by Doug Main
The needle doesn't move, but the red warning light is on. The light goes OFF when the tank level is low. Filling up turns the light back ON. The Check Gauge test indicates the needle mechanism is working. I've checked and cleaned the connection at the tank (under the little door in the trunk)...

Reset Service Interval Indicator by Jeff Strickland
I changed the oil in my E36 this weekend, and finally decided to figure out how to reset the service interval indicator. Anyway, I did a Google Search, and quickly found a very simple method of accomplishing this task. 1.) Locate the #7 pin on the data port 2.) Ground this pin while the ignition...

2005 525 or 530 by Golfncpa
I'm in the market for a new BMW. I currently own a 2002 530i. Can't decide on which 2005 model to get, stick with the 530 or go with the 525. I've read that the new 525's are better and have more power than the 2002 525. I'm not getting the sports package on the new car, so speed isn't...

1 series in North America? by Robin S.
I was reading a newsletter from within the company I work for an noticed that we make parts for the BMW 1 series. I've never heard of these cars - indeed they are not shown on the North American websites. Any idea if BMW plans to bring these things to North America? Regards, Robin

e36 clutch pedal adjustment question by P-u-h-e-k
This is correct. This clutch is hydraulic and is self-adjustable. If the clutch isn't slipping when accelerating it's most probably ok. You could have a defective clutch valve and/or hydraulic oil leak. "round Midnight" > wrote in...

E46 Electric seats discomfort by Geoffrey Mortimer
Hi I just got a 330Ci sport cab with all the trimmings. Very nice too. Last weekend I went out in it with my wife for about two hours drive. The following day I returned from the UK to Italy, where I work, and was surprised to discover I could hardly walk, having partially lost motor control over...
