best make of pistons and heads; 1600cc vs 1641cc by
Matt S
Hi,
I will be replacing the heads and pistons on my bug;
I was wondering what piston make is preferred for a 1600cc standard
engine.
Mahle seems to be popular any comments?
Regardless of what pistons I use, I should balance them - is this
correct? ( Mahle advertises having the convience of the...

Bug master cylinder: Residual Pressure Valves? by
Well, the brakes went soft on the 'ol 69 bug, and a puddle appeared under
the master cylinder, so it was time for a new one. Went to the FLAPS and
got a new German FTE/FAG M/C. It looked quite similar to the original (yes,
it was the 35 year old original, complete with a blob of body...

Strong Bad,
I sure miss Marzipan from your Japanese cartoon. Could you bring her
back for a guest appearance or something? Or at least, the Yello Dello?
Yeah, I'm a leg man ;)

electronic ignition kit by
Randall Brink
Doesn't look like a bad price for all the components. I can't make out what
all the components are, either. That electrical-panel-looking contraption,
for instance. Don't know about the quality.

axel removal w/o impact wrench by
Animal
I'm trying to get the axle nut off of my '73 Bug (IRS) without the help
of an impact gun. I've used Muir's idea of a breaker bar with a 1" x 3'
pipe cheater, but have only manged to torque off the socket nub on two bars.
I've poured Liquid Wrench on the nut, I've heated it up with a torch,
I've...

Heat exchanger question by
Remco
In taking more things off my 75 engine, it occurred to me that those
heat exchangers are potentially pretty dangerous if they have an
exhaust leak in them.
Is there a way to make sure to see if they are ok?
(off the car, that is).
Or is it just a good idea to not take the risk and replace...
