re-installed the thermostat pushrod onto the flap actuator, rplace
everything, installed the thermo and drove it a few miles to see that the

Water In Beetle Wiper Motor by
[email protected]
Hi All!
Last Summer I replaced my '73 Beetle's wiper motor.
the old wiper motor had water in it, but it still worked.
What could have caused this and what can I do to prevent water from
getting into the new wiper motor?
Thanks!

Pulley by
clancy
Can someone help me. A friend gave me a bunch of old VW parts - some are
new in the package. I've got a CAR CUSTOM "Hi-Tech Pulley" with this
number on it - 101 50-4401. It looks like it goes on a Type 1. Would
this be right? Thanks for any help.

Argh....I have to sell her. by
Anthony
Sad but true. Anyway, this is my first time selling a car. I would
appreciate any hints and tips, and no, I don't plan on selling it to
someone who won't take care of her. That's why I'm posting here...I
want to know where I can advertise the car to people who are aircooled
enthusiasts. ...

No value? by
Red Bug
Jodie Foster's '79 Beetle Convertible FI with 55,000 miles went for a
mere $16,500US today at the auction on Speed channel... Is that all this
type and year is really worth? Does it really have to be an OLD Beetle?
Would the car have sold for more on TheSamba or elsewhere?

Hey, I'm not a RAMVA regular, but I lurk from time to time.
Just got her Sunday, not a bad score for the East coast. First _real_
project, so I'm sure I'll be posting a bunch, bugging (no pun intended)
you guys with my stupid questions.
This weekend I'm just going to clean it up, and think about...

Interesting Ignition Revelation by
Randall Brink
I installed a factory new engine and replaced all electrical, ignition and
fuel distribution system components this Dec.-Jan. Never reeally got
everything running right, but acceptable at times. The engine sounded
"restrained" if that's a proper way to describe it, and it had major
hesitations in...

Engine Cooling Flaps by
Randall Brink
After rigging a cross-arm connector onto the actuators for my fan shroud
flaps, and installing the connecting rod to the thermostat, getting the
shroud back on, etc., it now occurs to me that the newer "doghouse" oik
cooler compatible fan shrouds do not have that spring that loads the cooling
flap...

Refinishing Vent Wing Frames by
Mel P.
I have painted the frames about 4 years ago. Now I'm re*painting my Bug and
found rust in the wing frames under the seals. Should the water be draining
out of them somehow? Maybe gluing the seals better?
Any thoughts are appreciated.

First engine pull by
Remco
Hi Guys
Well, I got around to pulling the engine out of a 75 bug given to us
last month -- was waiting for a nice day and yesterday was it. Amazing
how easy that is! The hardest part is documenting the connections (it
is a FI model).
Jan Anderson's trick of sliding the engine out the side seems so...

Yet another case ID question by
Animal
I have read the Haynes manual, read Muir's book, cracked the case and
cleaned it and still can not figure out what engine I have inherited. (I
cracked the case because when I drained the oil, water poured out.)
The only identifying marks are a "014" stamped on the flywheel-side of
the case (on the...
