Carbon Monoxide monitoring by
Busahaulic
Back when I worked for the school district, they had throw-away carbon
monoxide indicators that they placed in buses when drivers complained of
headaches etc. A couple years back I hunted everywhere locally for one of
those, but couldn't find them. I was shopping in my Aircraft Spruce catalog
for a...

Help!! No reverse by
Steve Roberts
Hi!
I'm a new user and a new owner of a 78 VW Camperbus. I can't find
reverse! I thought since it has the same engine as my porsche 914 it
would be to the left & down, but no luck. I can't push it by myself &
my closest neighbor is a 1/4 mile away! any suggestions? (Please try to
refrain from "park...

Porsche 914 to Bug gauge conversion question by
Karls
Hi RAMVA! As some of you may recall, I decided to install an early 914
gauge cluster on the bug. It's finally in and it looks great. But there
are some issues that must be covered.
Just as Speedy Jim suggested, the fuel gauge is designed to use the can
shaped (Porsche, Ghia) sender which stays...

Throttle cable question by
Mike West
When you replace your throttle cable, should you pull it finger tight and
then tighten the holding nut on the carb, or leave a slight bit of slack?

Ignition Switch Revisited by
RhinoJockey
Man I'm tired of this. Seems most everyone is favorable of a hard start
relay and I can see why. Here's my prob again on my 74 SB. The starter
will not turn with the key. I've "jumped" all over this thing and the
only time it will crank is with a jumper between "30" and "50" on the
ignition...

1600DP rpm...how much is too much? by
Bill
I've transplanted a rock-stock DP into an early 912 Porsche while I
slowly ($$) rebuild the original motor. The Porsche gearing seems a
little "short" for the VW, since the 912 motor is very comfortable
cruising in the 3500-4200 rpm range. Is it safe to run the VW on the
fwy at a continuous...

I may Have Made a Mistake by
Packrat46
When I was putting my bug back togather I took someones advice from here
about putting the oil cooler in front of the fan intake. Well I did and the
other day while I was driving around the oil temp went up over 250 deg. I
have tried and the most that I can drive out of town is 10 mi's before...

What about the new gas? by
beep_beep
Fellow bussers:
What about the new gas? I'm a little worried because I don't know how
old iron mixes with the new gas.
I've been buying regular gas without alcohol for my '67 bus with a
super beetle engine ('67 carb). I wonder if someone will comment on
how it will run on the newly mandated...

One Headlight out - Need help diagnosing by
Houdsie
My '73 Super's driver side low beam is out. It was off and on last
summer. It worked when it felt like it. Some times if it was out, I
could feel down to the fuse and jiggle the connection and it would
work. I pulled the connection and cleaned it with sandpaper plus added
some dilectric grease...

What about the new gas? by
Dennis Wik
Tim, I am just sharing the truth about what I'm doing and have done in
"real world situations". My Sport trac does not get their rated mileage
becuse I tow so I had it ordered with the 4.11 rear end gears, limited
lock and the 4 wheel drive option (yes, the two wheel was standard).
Remember, this...

Any ideas if 1972 Superbug wheels would fit on my regular 1970 bug.
They have the same four spokes, so I am guessing that they would but
just thought I might double check??
Thanks

VDO head temp in a bus by
Volksrod
Now that I've done some research here on ow the VDO cylinder head temp
gauge works I wonder if I did a bad thing.
I have a 1971 Bay window bus with a sunroof and that means it has a
belly pan which makes it almost impossible to run wires along the
frame, so I have run all of them inside the...
