I started hating bikers by
223rem[_2_]
I mean the assholes riding Harley Davidson-type bikes modified to make
as much noise as possible. On Labor day afternoon, I was sitting at a
sidewalk cafe in the strip district of Pittsburgh with my very young
son and a few friends, when three hooligans on bikes pased by. There
was nobody else on...

I saw something amazing today by
223rem[_2_]
As I was approaching 4-way intersection (30 mph, no passing
residential area) I noticed that the driver of black Explorer who was
first in line on cross street and had the right of way was just sitting
there giving hand signals to all other vehicles (there were about 8
vehicles in all going in all...

Do you speed when tired? by
223rem[_2_]
I tend to speed when tired, and the more tired I get, the more I speed.
The reason is that I want to get to destination to rest ASAP. Also,
fatigue reduces inhibitions, and that makes me less cautious. Does this
happen to you too?

I'm on my way from Indiana to San Jose, CA by
223rem[_2_]
Today I did 800 miles from Mound City, NE to Rock Springs, WY. Took me
about 12 hours. I'm driving a 16 foot Penske GM truck which is
awesome! Brand new, very comfortable, tons of torque and power but
unfortunately speed limited to about 78 mph. The only drawback is that
it is a gas guzzler and gas...

Rock Springs, WY to Truckee, CA by
223rem[_2_]
I was amazed by how unpopulated WY, UT, and NV are. Huge contrast to
the East and Midwest. Another big difference from East, Midwest, and
California is that there are almost no cars, virtually all traffic is
semis. That means no LLBs and much less stressful driving experience.
Now I understand why...

Car dealer: Bad wheel alignment is typical in AWD cars by
223rem[_2_]
Yesterday I went to a Mitsu dealership to check out an used AWD
Mitsubishi SUV for my gfriend. The outside regions of the front tire
thread were horribly worn, indicating severe wheel alignment problems.
First the sales manager promised to "fix" the problem by replacing the
tires, and after I told...

Two clutch questions by
223rem[_2_]
1. On the car I'm driving now, because the clutch pedal is not far
enough to the left, I have to keep my thighs uncomfortably squeezed
together. Any ideas how to "move" it left? Perhaps expanding the
surface of the pedal to the left?

Why you shouldnt tailgate when driving a brand new AMG by
223rem[_2_]
I was in the carpool lane of a busy surface street ("expressway", with
SL 50 mph) in rush hour traffic. Behind me there was a shiny black
Mercedes AMG with dealer plates. He was following so closely that I
couldnt see his headlights at times. We approach stopped traffic (lots
of brakelights were...

How reliable are turbo engines? by
223rem[_2_]
It would seem that a high RPM, small high-output engine (for ex. Subaru
WRX STI or Mitsubishi Evo) cannot last too long. The stress on its
components is
just too much. Can such an engine last, say, 150,000 miles without
major repairs?
Is there any special, expesnive maintanance that a turbo...

How bent are your knees when in the driver seat? by
223rem[_2_]
Does anyone else have this problem?
I find it very uncomfortable to have my knee and ankle joints bent in
opposite directions for extended periods of time (as in the drawing
below). This happens because (1) the pedals are set too high above the
floor (forcing me to have my foot angled up instead of...

A very close call today-what did I do wrong? by
223rem[_2_]
4-lane divided highway, SL 55, an occasional light here and there.
I was in the right lane, I had an ancient Impala (an old police
cruiser) almost level with me in the left lane. There were mutliple
vehicles closely following both of us in the right and left lanes.
Several car lengths ahead of me...

CHP crackdown along I-80 between Sacramento and Reno. Good! by

http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_12477874?source=rss
A Folks, if you are going to Reno, you have been warned. The Highway
Patrol is cracking down big-time in an effort to reduce speeding and
crashes on I-80 from the Sacramento County line to Colfax. Officers
issued over 700 tickets last weekend....
