156 picked up today, well chuffed by
R D S
Picked up my 2.0 TS 156 today and can barely stop grinning.
It does everything I want it to do and looks reasonably grown up, well at
least till I put a big boot spoiler on it.
I would recommend one to anybody.

156 pollen filter by
simon bothwell
I recently removed the pollen filter from my '99 2.0 TS, it didn't have a
cover over the housing and now water is pouring in after any amount of rain!
Should it have had some form of cover, if so I will make one of sorts. Any
ideas?

156 powersteering problems by
[email protected]
On my 2000 156 1.8 Sportswagon my hydraulic tank leaked heavily so I
took it to service. After fixing the leak the guy told me that also
the steering assembly leaked and had to be replaced.
He said it was a common problem w. that model and year. Is this just
an excuse to let me bleed a quite...

156 problems filling up the petrol? by
fmt
Being a new owner of a 156 I'm starting to learn all the delights of
owning and driving an Italian car, but one thing that's really bugging
me at the moment is as regards putting petrol in the car.
I've tried at 5 different fuel stations, but everytime the same thing
happens.
Nozzle goes in, fuel...

156 Q-system autobox by
Carl Farrington
Our 1994 318i is getting tired now, so we're thinking of replacing it.
We've come across a 156 2.5 V6 Q-System, and I am looking for feedback on
the box and car in general.
We like the idea of another automatic, none of this sillyspeed stuff, but a
proper autobox with a torque convertor. I was...

156 Quiet Tyre reccomendation - UK by
Steve P
Hi, after some thoughts on the best tyre for a 156.
Model 156 TS 2.0 Lusso so its on a 15 inch rim, specifically a 205/60 R15 V
tyre. Currently shod with Goodyear NCT5 which seem to have become very noisy
as they have worn.
Main criteria is noise, I want a quiet tyre. Yes I know it's an Alfa and...

156 radiator by
Ppelectron
Just wondering if anyone has tried replacing the radiator in a 156 (V6 with
aircon)? Is it a straightforward job or a 3 hour one as I was told by Alfa? Any
idea whether the metal plate directly above the radiator (looks like part of
the car chassis / body to me) needs to be removed in order to get...

156 Radiator Fan Unit - thermostat built in? by
gherries
Was half-way through changing the radiator and thermostat(coolant fluid
thermostat body), and noticed that as I disconnected the radiator fan
from the electrics there were two cables connected to another plug on
the fan that wasnt the fan power.
Being intrigued I unscrewed the thing and found what...

156 radio by
bwj
Any ideas on why my 156 MW/LW reception should be so poor. FM is fine on the
original factory installed system. Read elsewhere about need to properly
earth the radio but no idea where to look to check.
Thanks, Benjo

156 Radio Code by
Rock Beer
Hi - a brief synopsis - flat battery, now recharged, Radio is asking for a
code.
I've called the local Alfa dealer & they've suggested contacting the dealer
where the car was 1st purchased from etc etc... as I'm not the 1st owner
this may take me some time.
Does anyone know of an easier / quicker...

156 Rear Light by
Gareth
The near-side rear light on my 156 is glowing constantly, even when
the ignition is switched off. With the ignition on, the bulb warning
light on the dash comes on. When the lights are switched on, the
warning light goes out and the bulb operates normally.
I've tried a different bulb, checked...

156 Rear Light Problem by
Admin
My off-side rear light glows dimly even when the lights and ignition is
off. The bulb failure light on the dash is on except when the lights are
turned on. There is about 9V across the bulb. I was lucky I discovered
it before the battery went flat.
My local Alfa garage have never heard of this and...

156 Rear View Mirror by
Malcolm Osborne
I succeeded in smashing my LHS mirror on a motor gate that decided to start
closing while I was reversing out!
After about 6 weeks, I eventually got a replacement from the dealer.
Fitting the new mirror wasn't too difficult - removing a plastic cover
inside the door reveals the 3 allan screws. ...

156 replacement audio ----always on? by
fmt
My Y reg 156 previously had a Sony deck in place that worked even
without the ignition switched on.
I've tried to fit a Kenwood mask deck, one of the ones with a motrised
front panel that flicks over and back when the ignition is switched on
and off accordingly.
My problem is, because the supply to...

156 restyle: Last chance to buy a new future classic? by
Barry Bingham
Saw a copy of "Practical Classic Car" or some such in WHSmugs yesterday
& they were listing cars made in the last five years most likely to
become classics in x years time.
156 was top of the list, with a prediction that it would be the earlier
pre-facelift cars with original nose, interesting...

156 Rev counter draws current by
Pete
What a day to discover that the car wont start.
Eventually nice neighbour bump the 156 and
the wife drives it 20 miles to the Alfa dealer.
The happily relieve her of £35.00 and run a DIAG.
It shows that the Rev Counter is drawing current and
draining the battery. They don't know why, but they can...

156 selespeed by
lo
Hi all,
I have a '00 156 2.0TS Selespeed; I'm happy with it, except for a lack
of power at low revs: I've read this complaint from other people also.
Is there a way to mitigate this problem (air intake / sport exhaust / chip)?
Also is there a way to find out the software version of the...

156 Selespeed - 36000 mile service costs by
Dave Sparrow
Just about to put it in for the 36K service, plus the first MOT.
1. What sort of cost (excluding anything unforseen) should I be expecting
from a main Alfa dealer?
2. Anything that I should particularly check on, e.g. it's cambelt time
isn't it :(
Cheers,
Dave.
