BMW new 3 series ( E90) preview by

Moving away from door-guard strips seems to be a trend
these days. None of the newly introduced models seem
to have it. The new 5's and 7's don't have...

dealer replaced radio, still doesn't work by
caburnham
Any advice would be appreciated:
I have a 1998 528i. The radio started going dead, even the time
didn't show in the display area. Off/on switch did nothing.
Periodically the time will reappear, then the radio works for
a while. First dealer trip - radio is bad, ordered and replaced
($$$) and the...

E39 Police Cars in London by
[email protected]
I recently visited the UK and noticed a number of E39 police cars in
Westminster. What's the idea with using these? Are they reserved for
pursuit, supervisors, etc.? What model are they? The badges were
deleted. Having travled elsewhere in Europe I am familiar with the
concept of various grades...

Stupid design decisions by
dizzy
Sorry, but this needs to be said.
No oil dip stick: Maybe this would be okay, if it were not for the
fact that sensors seem to be BMW's weak spot. I know on my E46, the
oil-level sensor is a bit flakey, as is the washer-fluid sensor.
Pardon my language, but what the F$(% is one supposed to do if...

Rick
Have an Aussie spec 1998 M3 with SMG I. Before the starter motor will
engage, I have to wait about 10-15 secs while the SMG mechanism get enough
pressure. Is this normal ? or is my pump on the way out ?

RAK's recurrent ruminations on cars, chicks and courtship by
RichAsianKid
I was cruising around in my Bimmer coupe this morning and thinking
about sex.
It's unhealthy. I was thinking of a subject from recent postings on
newsgroups - which means that newsgroups are spilling into 'real
life'. I really have to stop. But still the point is a very
interesting one.
After an...

What is this part "officially called"? by
Nobody
Hi,
I have a BMW 325i 2002 4dr sedan. Right in front of the front wheels, there
are pieces of black plastic, somewhat soft plastic, that sort of form "in
front of the wheel mud flaps". This piece of plastic extends up the wheel
wells and covers them. From examination, there are at least two...

Reflections on a 350 mile test drive of a 2003 330i ZHP by
nopcbs
Just finished a 350 mile test drive of a 2003 330i ZHP in nice with 20,000
miles on the clock.
Observations:
The car has more than ample power. It accelerates from pretty low speeds
well in any gear, but 6th. Very impressive for a 3 litre six. The engine
loves to wind.
I got 28 mpg averaging...

Which winter tires for a Bimmer? by
Kevin Oberle
I've been winter tire hunting. Every dealer I visit is hawking a different
brand, and I have yet to find a site that rates or reviews winter tires.
Then again, more than one carries Bridgestone Blizzaks. I've heard both
good: "they're the best winter grip, their technology's way ahead...

Weird brake problem- '85 325e by
-=Bones=-
The brake light came on (1985 325e) so I checked the fluid and it was at the
min mark. I kept adding fluid but it wouldn't come up any higher. I look
inside the car and there is all the fluid in a puddle on the floor mat.
I notice there is somekind of overflow? or pressure relief hose that...

5w-30 or 10W-60 in an M54 @ 140 000 km now ? by
frischmoutt
Hello,
Until mid 2008, my BMW dealer used to put Castrol oil (SAE 5W30 LL04) in
my Z3 (M54 Engine).
Before last November, BMW rationalized their stocks, restricting the
varieties.
At the last Oil Service, they put a thinner oil, rebranded "Original BMW
Quality Longlife-04 SAE 5W-30", made in...
