Canadians purchasing tires in the U.S.? by Kevin Oberle
Howdy, I live near Toronto, and I'm shopping for a winter tire&rim set for my E46 coupe. My local dealer should be getting in packages assembled by BMW any day now, and I'll probably check with some of the local tire specialty shops too. However, I'm driving to the U.S. this coming weekend for a...

Benefit/cost of de-restricting '99 323i by apk1
I have a '99 323i convertible which uses the 170bhp 2.5 ltr engine, I believe the previous 2.5's and later both had about 193bhp, and the 323 is a restricted version. The questions are : 1/ is it possible to de-restrict the engine, if so what is involved and at what cost ? 2/ is there much to be...

Downloadable copy of manuals for E39 by Lars
Hi, The E39 that I just bought was supplied with manuals in German, which is kind of hard for me to read. I found the English version of the Owner's manual as a PDF download, but does anyone know if I can also find the manuals for the 1 - The on-board monitor (16:9) 2 - The phone

Bentley repair manuals by Blue Thunder
Hi all, are there some of you who use Bentley repair manuals? I have no experience as a mechanic, but I want to start doing the ordinary maintenance by myself. Are these manuals good also for a beginner? I'd also like to know if they are detailed enough, like saying how much torque is required to...

540I key fob battery replacement by Barbara McMahon
The range on my 1995 BMW 540I key fob has decreased with time, given the age ((6+ years) of the key fob battery I suspect it is time to change it. The owner's manual and the Bentley BMW 5-Series service manual does not appear to cover key fob battery replacement procedure. Is there an FAQ or...

Newbie question by Ed Presson
Where can I find a definition of the "Exx" designations so that I can follow the discussions with a bit more comprehension? I just started reading this news group because I'm planning on buying a 325xi after driving one. It had been years since I drove a BMW and after test driving a wide variety...

replacement remote for E34? by reggie
So I live in the Bay area, and I just bought a 1990 535i. I'm so blown away with this car. I've always had beaters. It only cost me $2500. Woo hoo! Do all of these things have remotes? It mentions it in the manual, but it seems that there are certain things in the manual that are actually options....

E28 sunroof - where the hell is relay K5? by Bob Kegel
> I need to find relay K5 in my car for the sunroof. What model? What year? I have electrical troubleshooting manuals for the E28. I don't know how much variation there is between years. I checked the '85 edition, maybe because I have an '85 E24, and found the sunroof relay "behind header, above...

85 735i window motor? by Jeremy
My local independent cannot seem to find a motor for the rear left side window. It blows fuses every three to five operations and appears to be drawing too many amps. Any suggestions for sources? I am located in Texas but that makes little difference. JJ

85 735i remore with alarm and radio code by Jeremy
The original, although it has been glued back together, still works. We need a second one and eventually replace the original before the batteries run down as the glue prohibits changing them. Are there any non-dealer (affordable) sources of these remotes. Unlike my truck, the alarm does not...

I have a 1990 525i. Had the air on the other day and turned the fan up with a quick motion. All of a sudden the radio and computer went out. When we got to our destination, the locks would not go to their down position with the key. Looked at the fuses, the aux. fan fuse was blown. Replaced. ...
