Recommendation for 94 Miata brake pads by glenf
I'm an old fart and don't drive it at 9/10 all of the time. Any suggestions on what brake pads might be best for me?

1995 Mazada Miata Oil Leak by [email protected]
I recently had the oil pan seal replaced. Within ten day the real seal on the transmission started to leak. The mechanic told me this is normal due to the increase in pressure caused by replacing the oil pan seal. I have asked two other mechanics and they agree with the origional answer. There...

Mazda-626 by goldengolf
I have a 2000 mazda 626, automatic transmission that will not go in gear. The shifting lever in on the center console, it will slide forward and backward through all the gears but will not engage. Could this be a transmission problem or maybe a linkage problem. Any Ideas?

170 HP 2006 Miata : fact or fallacy ? by [email protected]
Over the years, Mazda has been well known for making overstated claims about the amount of horsepower produced by its Miata engines. I'm wondering if the 2006 model really belts out 170 HP as they claim. I would like to hear from mechanically knowledgeable people on this subject. Thanks for any...

Miata Wheels by GParent
I have original alloy '91 Miata Wheels: I got the alloy wheels that came with the package on the Miata. Live in the Northeast US and they get badly pitted. I can have them reconditioned and repainted for around $150 a wheel or get replacements. I don't like extreme or chrome ones and want to...

Automobile magazine's 10 best sports cars by Grant Edwards
While at the dentist a couple weeks back I looked at this month's "Automobile" magazine. They had an article about the "10 Greatest Sports Cars of All Time". They weren't ranked, but seemed to be listed in semi-chronological order: An Alfa-Romeo from the 1920's Shelby Cobra Two Lotuses (Elan and...

Where is fuse block in 2003? by Grant Edwards
According to the repair manual, it should be under the dash on the left side, but I sure can't see anything that looks like a fuse block. Can anybody confirm the location of the fuse block in a 2003? -- Grant Edwards grante Yow! PARDON me, am I ...

Any experience with hail damage repair? by Grant Edwards
My 2003 Shinsen got pummelled by golfball+ sized hail on Saturday and it's pretty dented up. Obviously the hood and trunk lid took the brunt of the damange, but there are pretty good sized dents in all of the fenders and the tops of the doors. To get an idea of the density of the damage, There...

Where to get Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires? by Grant Edwards
I'm shopping for tires for my '03, and had decided on the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. But, AFAICT they're not availble in the 205/45-16 size. What mail-order tire vendors do poeple recommend besides tire rack? -- Grant Edwards grante Yow! Will this never-ending ...

Add USB connectors to a Miata? by Grant Edwards
Using a car charger/power-adapter in an NB Miata is starging to annoy me because my fingers hit the adapter when I shift into 5th gear. I've got several different gadgets (phone, GPS, MP# player, etc.) that can all be powered/charged from a USB port. I'm thinking I could install a 5V regulator...

Adjust odometer/spedometer? by Grant Edwards
Is there any way to adjust the odometer or spedometer in an NB Miata? In my 2003 the odometer reads about 2.8% high, and the speedometer reads about 7% high (with the OEM tires/wheels). I think I'll put on slightly oversized snow tires this year. That'll get me a little more ground clearance...

Alloy wheels for winter: "Sport Edition"? by Grant Edwards
It's time to buy wheels and winter tires. The current plan is a set of 195/55-15 Michelin PA2's on 6 or 6.5" wheels. I'm thinking about splurging on some alloy wheels this time around, but the selection in 6-6.5 is limited. One of the low-end brands TireRack carries is "Sport Edition". I've...

Miata in A Scanner Darkley? by Grant Edwards
I went to see _A_Scanner_Darkley_ on saturday, and Donna (Winona Ryder) drove a silver/gray roadster. The entire film was digitally rotoscoped, which made it hard to identify the car. At first I thought it was a Jaguar, but it looked a bit too small. Then I noticed in the credits it said "Miata...

How to remove screw from hardtop? by Grant Edwards
I had to remove the front latches from my hardtop so I could replace the plastic "bullet points" that seat into the plates at the top of the windshield. One of the latches came off and went back on without a struggle, but the other was almost impossible to remove. Two of the three screws just...

hub centering rings: plastic vs. aluminum? by Grant Edwards
As I was putting on my 3rd snow tire this morning, it dawned on me that I needed centering rings for the aftermarket wheels that my snow tires are on. Some places sell poly carbonate rings, some places sell aluminum ones. Since they're supposed to bear most of the weight of the car, I would think...

Remote start for standard transmission? by Grant Edwards
Now that I'm heading into my first Minnesota winter in a long time without heated parking, I've been getting a bit jealous of people with remote starters. I know I should just tough it out, but that aluminum shift knob gets pretty cold and I hate wearing gloves while driving. All of the remote...

Wheel center-bore by Grant Edwards
Can somebody point me to a definitive source for a Miata wheel center bore diameter? I've found three answers so far: 54.06, 54.1, 57.1. I know 57.1 is too big, so it's probably 54.something, but I can't find any official answer anywhere. -- Grant Edwards grante ...
