75 front brakes. by
SteveH
Looks really simple - knock the pins out, prise back pistons, remove
pads. Stick new pads in, replace pins. Job done.
Surely there's more to it than that?

Q-Tronic box by
Tony Rickard
I find it disappointing that whilst other manufacturers are producing
dual clutch sequential boxes that finally fulfill the potential Alfa
showed us with the innovative but temperamental selespeed boxes, they
have announce their new auto is... a torque converter auto with a
sequential mode (which...

159 2.4 JTD by
GT[_3_]
Anyone in here got (or driven) the new 2.4 Diesel plant in a 159 yet. 200
horses and tree uprooting torque sounds pretty impressive. Just wondered
what it 'actually' performs like and what the engine sounds like? I'll be
looking for a second hand (up to 24 months old) one in a year or 2...

Argh! Looks like I need a new radiator by
SteveH
Everything went so well that something had to go wrong.
The little plastic stub where you connect the pipe that goes back to the
expansion tank snapped off whilst I was bleeding the system.
New rad. £85 delivered.
Fingers crossed it's here for next weekend.....

Labour price for 156 engine swap by
R D S
I may be able to lay my hands on an engine for very good money, I have
someone lined up to give a good and proper checking.
How much should I pay to have an engine removed from one car and dropped
into another?
Would I be mental to consider doing this myself? Or at least some of the
work?

147/156/GT Alloy Wheels by
[email protected]
Hi,I want to buy new 17" rims for my 156.Can anyone tell me what is
the right offset (ET)?I think that there is a precise offset value
because I noticed that there is very small space between the inner
side of the tire and the suspension. So I don't want to buy 4 new
wheels that don't fit.
Thank you...

156 TS temp woes by
Catman
Or not
Quick straw poll please (quicker is better)
What speed does your 156 usually run at?
Having got ours back I went for a drive today only to be rather alarmed
to see the temp up above 90.
The fan is kicking on and off and the temp is fine at standstill, but it

Finally..... by
SteveH
After 2 Saturdays of spannering I have the 75 sorted, I think....
Yellowstuff brake pads went in last weekend - they're bloody good. It
actually feels like it has modern brakes now.
New coolant hoses and thermostat went on last weekend.
New radiator and fan switch went in yesterday.
Final job...

166 2.5 Questions by
Catman
Well, it's a big old car. Not had much chance to use it yet, but it's
in condition as described. All the buttons seem to work and it shifts
acceptably well ;)
Couple of bits of trim missing off the back console (not that I'm ever
likely to set in the back) and the cowl for the driver's seat...

147 Service Reset by
Woody[_4_]
There is no official Alfa Dealership in Cardiff at present. My 147 is out of
warranty And my local garage has serviced many Alfas inc: belt changes on
156 and 145's but not a 147. No problem doing the work, he is an excellent
mechanic, but does anyone know if the Service Mileage can be reset...

Roof Rails for 156 Sportwagons? by
Charlie Money
Anybody got any suggestions for mounting a roofbox on a 156
Sportwagon?
I checked with a dealer who said that roof rails could be retrofitted
(to allow crossbars and box mountings to be attached), but this would
cost close to a grand:
About £450 + VAT in labour (remove headlining etc)
£150 per...
