Wiring diagram 88 Cabbie, neutral safety switch... by
PeterD
I'm seeing an occasional problem with what I think is the neutral
safety switch (automatic transmission) on my 88 Cabrolet. Every once
in a while it won't start. Sometimes (not always) moving the shifter
will help, the other day I almost got stuck when the shifter moving
trick failed.
Checked my...

How to tell if 2006 Jetta 2.5 has optional side air bags by
Tom Adams
My daughter just bought a Jetta.
It has ESP, and I see 3 SRS symbols above the windows on both sides
one beside the windshield, one on the center post between side windows
and one behind the back seat side window.
But is there another optional side air bag? How do you tell if it is
there?

When car is started it does not sound like the fuel distribution
system is running. If memory serves me, you can hear it humming.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

2003 Jetta TDI "Check Engine" light on by
Wayne Faas
Just purchased a 2003 Jettat TDI with 70,000 miles from a private party
(engine code ALH). During the test drive, I noticed that the "check engine"
light was on. When mentioned to the owner, he told that it had been on
since the ECM was replaced 6 weeks ago by a VW dealer. The VW dealer told
him...

Golf mk2 stalling by
B Briggs
My mk2 1.8 has been stalling. Usually it's when I'm in town and have
to stop quickly. I put in the clutch and the revs drop to zero. It
always starts right back up. It doesn't happen all the time. Every
once and awhile the revs drop to zero then it bounces up to 2500, then
normal idle. It's a...

Is my expereince unique? 2003 Passat by
Art Greenberg
I need to vent.
I purchased a 2003 Passat GLS new in August 2003. The car has been
generally reliable. Until recently, I've really been very happy with it.
But now, with 75,000 miles on it, that's starting to change. I wonder if
my experience is unique, or if my expectations are out of line given...

Problem: Security light on the driver's side door flashes normally for
about 30 seconds. Then it flashes more rapidly (about twice as fast).
The alarm (horn) sounded at 6 AM yesterday. Does ayone know what the
cause could be? How can I permanently disable the alarm system, other
than opening the...

Jetta TDI - Injector Pump "Security" bolt by

I've got a 96 Jetta, TDI. The gasket
is leaking around the injector pump head
but there is a triangular shaped security
bolt (on the left front corner of the head
of the injector pump) that defies coming loose.
I purchased a set of gaskets, seals and 0-rings
that came with the "adapter" tool for...

95 Jetta headlights by
Dave[_30_]
I have a '95 Jetta. My current headlight covers are the stick-on kind.
They've been on the car for several years now and have become somewhat
opaque which dims the headlights quite a bit. I'm looking for
recommendations for replacement covers either the stick-on kind or the
pop-over kind. I...

I was having an overheating problem on my 99 Beetle. Wouldn't you just know

find that post to continue there. Sorry. I got several replies, but I...

Trade it or keep it??? by
Detailing Dude[_2_]
No, I ain't talkin bout the wife :)
Seriously, 2005 Passat TDI GL auto
41000 miles, like brand new inside and out.
Warranty is about done and I don't want, nor can I afford any major repair
bills. I haven't had even a hiccup so far. VW is offering 4 or 5 grand off a
new passat gaser, plus our value...
