A light horn? by
Mr. K[_2_]
I think it's more an AutoBahn thing, but I'm thinking of a light horn.
Any ideas?
It's to go on a '71 Ghia. I might add air horns too.

71 Ghia Convertible top latch replacement by
Steve Mc
Is it just those 2 screws, or is there something hidden whereas the top
needs to come off to replace the latch?
I don't want to get into something I possibly can't finish.
Thanks,

Cuban Combi,s by
John[_28_]
Watched a travel show on Cuba and there was a bay window Combi which
appeared to have a black radiator grille in the front panel. As opposed to
having a radiator hanging off the bull bar with hoses to a Subaru engine in
the back. Anyone know about it?

Valve Guide erosion by
Mr. K[_2_]
On two intake valve guides No.2 and 4 under the valve the guide is
rounded off like eroded. one valve got stuck open. that's why I pulled
the heads. The other guides are just perfect.
this is a type 2 engine circa 1971, dual port.
I wonder, anyone have an idea what went wrong here?

Today's hint; by
Mr. K[_2_]
well, installing an engine in a '71 Van went pretty well, but I forgot
to thread the accelerator cable as it went in.
So, being claustrophobic , I found a long tube the same dimensions as
the original throttle tube. Push that thru inches longer and it was a
lot easier to find down under.
Hope...

Air vs coil by
euroteam1
I am a retired Pastor trying something new. I just acquired a V W
Beetle/dune buggy. Apparently the kids who tried to build it couldn't
figure out how to raise the body of the dune buggy up from the V W
chassis to fit the 20" spoke rims. They put 2 pieces of HY 80 angle
iron in to replace the...

Whats it cost. by
DogDiesel
To restore a VW air-cooled these days.
A few scenarios .
A disassembled rolling good body bug. With and without a motor.
One with welded in rust repair panels. that needs assembled and painted.
Not running. or with the original motor that was running when it was parked.
A running...

Those dowel pins on the flywheel. by
Mr. K[_2_]
I was looking at this; and I wondered ; Why are those dowels so short.
It would seem like they should be long enough to "fill" the flywheel and
the crank . you know maybe another 3 mm in length. Does anyone make
longer ones. and are there Oversize ones ?
TIA

Father Of The VW Beetle by
Bill Berckman
In every VW book I have read, they cite Ferdinand Porsche as the
person who designed the VW Beetle. I ran across some information
today that disputes that. It says that an engineer by the name of
Josep Ganz was the person responsible, but because he was Jewish, he
was forced to leave Germany...

Is there a definitive "coffee table" book out there to help me refresh?
I saw a flat window Super and forgot '72s were that way until someone
reminded me... I'm losing it in my old age.

Ignition switch wiring?? by
Jan Andersson[_4_]
Someone needed help with wiring on his newly acquired kit car. As far as
he knows the donor was a 73 Beetle (US).
He claims the VIN starts 1332-something. That does not correspond to any
VW of that era.
The wires coming from the ignition switch a
a thick red wire
a thin red wire
