Is torque bind on audi ever an issue? by AD[_2_]
Is there an issue equivalent to the subaru torque bind on quattro(torsen) based systems (A4,A6,etc)?

Manual lock, just a single freaking lock on the driver's side? youmust be kidding me by AD[_2_]
I was (unpleasantly) surprised by the fact that the ONLY mechanical key is on the driver's door. No keyhole on the passenger side, nothing on the 5th door of my 2003 A4 avant. While the latter is expected having no redundancy in mechanical entry is not acceptable on what now is a $36k+ car I have...

ContiProContact in a snowstorm by AD[_2_]
OMG, it's horrible. I think even RE-92s were not nearly as bad. I've pulled a set of Xi 2 off last week and haven't really adjusted to these all seasons on snow (that fell last night). It was the first time that I was ever thankful to audi for ESP. It took me two full hours running morning errands...

stability control off by AD[_2_]
Now that it's way over 40F I wish there was a permanent (flip) switch for ESP off on 03 A4. torsen does an admirable job keeping understeer at bay with stability control turned off, but I keep forgetting to do so only to be reminded by the progress impeding electronics in hasty turns. giving 3xx...

Slickness is gone once the transmission fluid was replaced by AD[_2_]
I had the gearbox and rear diff fluid changed to BP 75w90 (synthetic). about 1.3 liter went into the rear diff and 2.7 was left for the manual gearbox. It feels not the same now. The slickness of shifts seems to be out and the rubbery feel of a subaru manual gearbox is in. It's also seems more...

B6 A4: windshield creaking in snowstorm by AD[_2_]
It's about -3C now (23F) and the windshield is making creaking noises for quite a while after I start driving the car in the morning (snow's falling) I had the windshield replaced this august with the very same (french) glass which I think is the same that is used by ingolstadt on the new...

A4 B6: Rear wheel well cowl carpet reattchment -> how would you do it? by AD[_2_]
Last year left rear wheel well cowl went loose (packed snow and sport package have to be thanked for that I guess) and was reattached by the garage on the other end of the city. This year it was the turn of the noise killer in the right rear well. Could anyone point me to the instructions for...

I need help! by AD[_2_]
While picking up my toddler from daycare today I caught myself getting lost on purpose, which resulted in an extra 6-7 mile loop. If anyone found a cure for excessive hedonism please do share it here.

New A4 owner: first impressions, Bentley manual justification, extrakey cost at the dealer, by AD[_2_]
Hi there, I finally got ahold of my 2003 A4 Avant 1.8T, it took 3 month to ship it from NJ/Penn State. First impressions: Lots of buttons to dig through: Took me quite a while how to turn the rear wiper off when I picked the car from customs yesterday.

choices, choices, choices: manual vs automatic in 2003 A6 by AD[_2_]
I typically get a manual tranny since where I live roads are not terribly congested most of the time (yet). How well does the stick shifts on 2003 A6 (quattro)? Is the engagement crisp and precise or there is any rubbery detached feeling to it? Is it 5 or 6sp? What does automatic have going for it...

Got a chance to test drive 2003 A4 (1.8T quattro) and 2001 A6 (V8 by AD[_2_]
I was surprised to find that A4 and A6 are worlds apart. I thought A6 is a bigger A4 but in fact it;s a smaller A8 I guess. (Never driven an A8 and have no need for one). A4 is nimble and A6 does it's best to hide it's heft but it shows a bit. Still, a far cry from a boat I have erroneously...

2003 A4 1.8T avant quattro: to hitch or not to hitch: that is the question by AD[_2_]
Hi there, I have specifically shyed away from A6 2.7T and sport package on A4 to have some meaningful road clearance to navigate snowpiles around here. Now I read this tread: http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2790428 and I've got to ask: how much do I give up with a hitch?

Studdable vs studded or how-do-we-cope-in-minnessotta by AD[_2_]
I've noticed none of the tires offered on tirerack are factory studded. Is that tirerack specific or you could not get factory studded tires in the US of A? A ploy to keep hakkapeliitta 7 out of the US is suspected :)

CAFE equivalent in audi homeland???? by AD[_2_]
2.400 euro for 200cc and an extra cog of 1.4TFSI (vs 1.2 fuel sipper): http://konfigurator.audi.de/entry?mandant=accx-de&vc=a1&pr=|F14+Y5Y5&next=model-page&partner=selected I somehow suspect CAFE equiivalent is in effect in EU. How do they sell this contraption when bmw 116i can be had to the...

A4L regional trial by AD[_2_]
me thinks it would do audi some good to try a pilot sale (trial run) of A4L in the nothern kaulifornia (san francisco area) Given the large chinese enclave that is used to the longer wheelbase A4 i suspect it will sell quite well to the folk who could not get themselves to justify the extra heft...

Puzzled by the rubber choice of the previous owner by AD[_2_]
My A4 Avant Quattro came with 17" original rims wearing Continental ContiProContact 235/45R17 so I assume the car has sport package (A cursory look at the spare revealed that it is also 17") I'm scratching my head trying to figure out why would any one buy a car with sport package and outfit it...

cylinder deactivation idiocy by AD[_2_]
sooo, now that a4 2.0T is likely to get 2 cylinder deactivation (and the accompanying increased lag in engine response) does it mean 5 cylinder 2.5T spared of that idiocy would be an available option for the up and coming a4? manual 5 or 6sp option, please
