What's it take to replace the cam tensioner seals on the 20V V6? by JimV
I have a '99 A4 that needs new cam tensioner seals at 84K. Has anyone here done this job? I'm a pretty experienced mechanic by hobby, but I've never been in the 2.8. How difficult a job is it?

A4TDi Everlasting Oil? by Barry Bingham
I posted a while back about my concerns following the initial "long life" service of my wife's UK-based A4. After the oil change and just 20miles, the oil was as black as before and there was more of it. I've now been back to the garage and insisted that they again change the oil foc - which they...

2001 change timing belt or not? by Buying a Used Audi
Do you guys still recommend changing the timing belt at 60K miles. My car is a 2001 A4 with 83K miles on it, driven by a girl with care, and serviced at very regular intervals. Should I still change the timing belt now or let it past 100K? as it is a 2001 is it still falling under the notorious...

Phatnoise Q by HooHa
$400 at the dealer (believe that includes installation). How difficult is the installation? Is it possible to buy one elsewhere and install it yourself? If so - any suggestions as to where to find one? TIA

GSM mic with Nokia handsfree? by Glenn Richards
I have a Nokia CK-1W Bluetooth handsfree kit in my 2001 A4, which is integrated with the audio system (after-market Sony setup). I noticed there's a mic fitted to the lighting unit, presumably for the GSM option (which wasn't fitted to my A4). Anyone know where the other end of this would be, so I...

1999 Audi A4 1.8 Q Tiptronic problem by Phillip McJunkins
When I put the shifter knob over into the manual position, nothing happens, the display remains the same and it still acts like an automatic. I've also developed a high pitch whine, almost like a jet plane. Could the two be related and is this an easy fix? TIA

1995 Audi 90 2.8l engine temperature low by Gene Buckwalter
Ok, before you all say that I need a new thermostat, I've been there. :-) The engine temperature guage seems to regulate to the first, thin white line at about 1/4 on the guage. There is a thick white line just below half way up the guage where I would expect the needle to settle. The needle only...

Audi owner research by David Leonard
Good morning, and please forgive the intrusion--this is not spam or solicitation. I have a client who would like to survey owners of certain automobiles, including Audi. This is an on-line questionnaire, no more than about 20 minutes long. We will mail to you a gift of $50, in cash, as...

Fog light bulb replacement for 2000 Audi A4 by dk
Can anyone tell me what type of bulb is used in the in-bumper fog lights of the 2000 A4 Quattro? I could not find this information in the owner's manual, or on-line. I noticed that H3's seem to be used in all other Audi models. Does this also apply to the 2000 (and later) A4's? Thanks,

Distributor on a 91 200TQ by bill
All, I have a 91 Audi 200 TQ that has been eating Distributors lately. Some of you may remember one of my previous posts about the car stuttering occasionally while driving. It turned out that I had blown the head gasket, and oil had filled the distributor and 2 spark plug housings, and ate one...

Wow! by JJ
I've owned 4 wheel drive SUV's....but we just had a horrible ice storm yesterday morning. I drove my 03 A4 AWD 21 miles to work......I couldn't believe how my vehicle didn't slip or slide at all. This is with performance tires too!!!! Very impressed!

V6 Pinging right between coasting and acceleration by Gene Buckwalter
Wow this thread is still on a server?! Anyway I fixed the pinging....and yes, it really was pinging, not drive-train noise. I pulled the heads and replaced valve guides and all the gaskets. The pinging I detailed in this thread is now completely gone, replaced by much better highway...

2004 A6 2.7 TS - Service issues - Rough idle, loose seat, etc... by Cynthia L Shelley
Hi All, I was wondering if anyone has had similar issues with their A6's: 1.) Rough cold idle - Dealer claims service bulletin advises customers to use lower octane (87) gas to solve the issue. Dealer refused to provide copy of the bulletin. This makes no sense to me as higher octane gas is...

Dumb accident with '86 TQ, question about bent frame by cp
Hi, I had dumb mishap with my '86 5000 TQ, I drove onto a median and knocked a small sign over. The front left tire was knocked out when the car went over the curb and it sprung a huge oil leak when I drove the car 100 feet to park it. The car drove fine (knocked out tire) but was there was a pool...
