Where to mount alarm main box? by
Steven Spits
Hi group,
I have an alarm lying around that's waiting to secure my Miata from the scum
of this world (actually, I don't care about the alarm itself, but it would
be nice to have central door locking again).
I wonder what would be the best place to mount the main box?
The previous one (went...

Water on positive battery terminal? by
Leon van Dommelen
Today I cleaned Bozo's trunk. First time I did it, and yes, it was
needed. I always assumed the trunk would stay clean enough, since it
is normally closed. So far for that idea. I guess all that black dirt
and grime should have given me an idea, but I really only discovered
the problem from...

Air conditioning option for 1997 STO by
[email protected]
My understanding is that 1997 STO had A/C as an option. Is it possible
to tell, off the cuff, whether a Miata has had A/C installed or not?
For example, do Miatas without the A/C option not have an A/C button in
the console?

overheating at speed by
[email protected]
I have a 97 1.8 standard mx5. Today was hot in the UK (probably about
85F). On a long motorway journey the temperature gauge was creeping up.
This was at a steady 75-80mph. Slowing to 65mph lead to the temperature
returning to normal. Coolant levels normal.
What's the most likely cause of this? My...

putting on new Robbins top by
Lisa
My husband and I are putting on a new Robbins top, and are stumped. The
cable for our old top was NOT THERE on either side when we took it apart
(previous owner), and we're putting on new cables. So, before we commit and
rivet them in place, should they be top up, with curved metal underneath?...

Miata A/C by
Jerry
Hi all,
I recently had to take the '97 Miata in for an A/C charge. As it is
not my car, I took it to the local Mazda dealer. I was charged $160
for recharging and road testing.
I suspect that I was overcharged (in dollars, not refrigerant). How
much should that job have cost?
Thanks,

small hole in plastic window by
[email protected]
My wife's Miata got a small hole (poked with a ski pole) in the plastic
window. We are planning to sell the car in August, and would not want
the embarrasment; the car is otherwise in mint condition. What's the
cheapest way of fixing it (say, within $300)?

Power Outlets Not Working by
courtneyk
One of my power outlets (the one in the center console) has been working on
and off for the past couple weeks. A couple days ago, it quit working
entirely. Yesterday, my main power outlet stopped working. What could this
be from? Is this the start of a bigger electrical problem?

Hello newsgroup!
You ever see those cars with the loud, loud speakers and the spinners,
all pimped out, rollin down the boulevard? And sometimes they've got
these decals, to make it look like there are bullet holes in them. But
they're fake bullet holes; those cars are (to borrow a neologism...

Currently looking at a 1992 MX5 1600cc. Its a friends car and I'm new to the

timing belt change needed? by
Scott
My '91 Miata has about 29K real miles on the odometer and has never had
the timing belt changed. Should the belt be changed, or should it still
be good for 60K, despite its age?

Pop sound from left front by
bokuglen
I have a predictable noise coming from the front left side of my 97
Miata (82K miles). It happens after driving for a bit and then
applying the brakes. I notice it at low speeds, but perhaps just
because the general noise level is low. The sound is a single
metallic, dull 'pop' like hitting a...
