'04 Audi A4, any pervasive issues? by Tri Duck
I am looking at purchasing a 2004-5'ish A4.... anything in particular I should be on the look out for? Any pervasive issues with this model year (recalls, major repair issues etc)? Any scheduled maintenance I should be on the look out for etc? I read one review that recommended the 5 speed...

'05 A6 Avant (Not Allroad)? (in USA) by eBob.com
What's the story with the '05 A6 Avant? It's not mentioned on the Audi USA web page. The Allroad is, but they don't appeal to me at all. Is it just later than the other models? Or does Audi think that the Allroad is the only wagon they need? Bob

'05 TT 3.2 strange brake "groan" by + Rob +
Hi all, Just recently my '05 TT started making a strange noise under very specific conditions. When the outdoor air temperature is between roughly 32f and 50f, the car illicits a strange "groaning" sound when I use the brakes while in reverse. When the air temperature is either warmer or colder...

'06 A6 Heat Vents? by removethis
My '06 A6 has 2 holes in the floor in the rear under the drivers seat, but they are unsightly to me and look out of place. They are totally open vents (approx. 2" x 3" ea.). The carpet is cut to allow them access to the cabin. When I brought my car into the dealer last week for 5,000 mile...

'84 Audi 4000s Quattro brake issues, balancing by ItJstAGame
Hi, I've had problems with this for a while, in the mean time I've been driving my other car, but a couple years ago I replaced the disc pads on all 4 wheels of my vehicle. I noticed the front brakes dragging horribly and the rears seemingly getting no fluid. After some investigation (on and off...

'84 Audi 4000S Quattro gear oil by [email protected]
Hi all, just curious if someone that still has an owner's manual or a tech manual might know if there's any specific or special kind of gear oil I should use for the transmission and differential. Is regular 90 weight gear oil appropriate? Thanks, Chris

'86 4000Q suspension question by miguelito
Greetings Audi-philes Could somebody please tell me where the "damping ring" near the top of the strut assembly goes? My Haynes manual shows the part and mentions that it should dusted with talcum powder before installation (to prevent heat rash as well as offensive odors I suppose), but...

'86 5K TQ don't want to start after air and fuel filter change by cp
Hi, My '86 5K TQ don't want to start after an air and fuel filter change. I did get it started twice by cranking but as soon as it starts up it will die if I don't hold the gas. It drives great but dies upon attempting to idle. It starts no problem when the car is moving and is put in gear. What...

'87 5000 cd Quatro steering wheel re fasten by The Bald Ass Prairie Farm
Hi All, my wife left her Audi at home so I can have a look at it:) "the steering is weird" is her diagnose. The previous owner(s) have left me with lots of half done jobs and this is one of them. Of course she takes the Bentley book with her to make sure I have to spent some time tinkering :) She...

'87 5000 engine hood gas strut replacement secrets/tips? by winston
Hi...I'm replacing the gas struts that (don't) hold the engine hood up in my '87 5000 QT wagon...and I can't seem to get the pins out that hold the tops of the struts in place. They're basically like cotter pinned sleeves....the clips on the inboard ends of the sleeves came off easily, but the...

'87 COUPE GT CIS-EIII Wiring Schematic? by JR North
7/87 production date. 2.3 5 cyl. CIS-EIII. The Bentley '84-'87 Coupe GT manual does not show this car with CIS-EIII System. The manual shows all with 25 pin ECM. This car has 35 pin ECM. The '88-'90 Audi 80/90 Bentley manual shows CIS-EIII for 5 cyl., but the pin-outs and wire colors don't match....

'87 Type 44 replacement parts question(s) by Antony R.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do about replacing the crank-case breather hose with something besides the oem over-priced molded hose that goes bad much sooner than it should (this will be the third in this cars life), and whether there are any year type 44s that doesn't have plastic tanks...

'88 Audi 90 dash illumination by Sune Stjerneby
Would it be normal for the digital clock inside the tachometer to be illuminated? The tachometer itself is, though slightly dimmer in the redline area. Wondering if a bulb's gone or if it even exists. Haynes doesn't detail this in their type 89 workshop book, other than mentioning the LCD clock...

'88 Audi Coupe, Hazard light problem by Slimbo
Hello! My '88-9 Audi Coupe has a faulty Hazard light. It just stopped working the other day! I have replaced the switches and the relay (under the dash). The indicators work fine, though. When I changed the switches over, the hazard light on the instrument panel came on constant. The indicator...

'90 Audi 90 - No heater valve? by ~ ElektraMan ~
Does anyone know if my Audi 90 should have a heater valve? I can't see that it does. If so where is it located? I've followed the heater hose to the firewall and there is no valve on the hose. Is this correct? Or am I looking in the wrong area? I replaced one in my Audi 100 so I have a general...

'90 Turbo 200 -> REAL hard to start ? by Tony
There are a number of threads about things like this on the Audiworld T44 forum: http://forums.audiworld.com/v8/ A few things to suspect: - Dirty injectors - Run a bottle of Techron injector cleaner in a tank of gas. - Failed pressure check valve on the fuel pump - replace pump - Fuel filter needs...

'90 V8 Quattro Water and Oil Temperature Help by GigaNews
My water and oil temperature gauges are both reading 60-65C. From what I've gathered, the water temperature should be higher, around 90C. I assume the water and oil gauges should read similar temperatures and since they do, I assume they are correct. Is checking the thermostat the reasonable...

'93 80 - Broken Door Mirror - advices?? by Mike Buckley
Annoyingly, I've managed to break the door mirror on my '93 80 - the internal spigot on which the mirror head is meant to swivel has sheared. Has anyone got one lying around to exchange for some beer tokens? Right hand / Drivers side (UK!) , plain black plastic (not body colored),...
