[email protected]
Was using Mobil 1 in my automobile and I decided to buy a brand new motorcycle living in Louisiana the engine of my motorcycle was air-cooled so thought synthetic oil would be a good up grade for my motorcycle engine, my owners manual said to put 1,000 miles for break-in, I put the 1,000 miles and...

golf SE ground clearance by
[email protected]
A bit of a stab here. My son just bought a 2016 Golf SE (nice little scooter) and also just moved into a new apartment. The complex's parking area is accessed off the street via a "very" steep ramp. Son is afraid engaging the ramp will damage front air dam before the wheels lift the car. I remember...

Where has everyone gone? by
tonyw
Hi,
rec.autos.makers.vw.watercooled used to be quite an active group.
Where has the discussion moved to? When I search for alternative
groups for watercooled VWs, I find mostly very narrow groups that, for
instance discuss modifications, or discuss just one model of VW,
rather than the more...

VW Golf Door locks keep freezing, best lubricant? by
Greg
A friend is having a lot of trouble with her door locks freezing on her
'96 VW Golf. What is the best lubricant to use on these locks? I've
heard good and bad things about silicone and graphite. Somebody also
recommended lithium grease. I've been warned from using regular oils
and grease...

window regulator adjustment on cabrio? by
Bill Kearney
Anyone have tips or instructions on how to properly adjust the power window
regulator in a 96 Cabrio? I'm having a tough time getting things aligned
such that it's tight enough up to the roof without binding on the way up.
Thanks,

full synthetic VW 505 01 in North America? by
Achim Nolcken Lohse
Has anyone found a source of fully synthetic VW 505 01 engine oil in
North America?
The only brands I've been able to find in Canada are Motul, which is a
"synthetic blend" and outrageously priced at CAD$11/Litre, and
Castrol, which doesn't even show the word "synthetic" anywhere on the
package,...

We got a recall letter from VWoA about 1998-2000 Passats, wear on the
front suspension lower control arms, check and possibly replace them.
Says they can be worn even if rubber boots are not damaged, then if
rubber boots are damaged, blah, blah,.... Anyone have any experience
with that?...

Why VW's get bad gas mileage? by
Jon R. Patrick
First, I'm a fan of VW, so I'm not just here attacking them. I had an
87 Fox I used my last 2 years of college, and it's one of those cars I'm
sorry I ever got rid of.
I MAY be in the market to replace my current ride (a focus), and the new
Rabbit has caught my eye... reminding me of the days...
