New Type of Fuel Efficient Vehicle by
PolicySpy[_3_]
There's a new type of fuel efficient vehicle and the government is not interested at all.
The new fuel efficient vehicle is a motorized bicycle.
But isn't a motorized bicycle a mopad ? Well, according to most governments a motorized bicycle with an internal combustion engine is a mopad and...

Mid & rear engine placement safety implications by

I guess this is a first time ever I have splintered anything into a separate
thread, cause this is so OT of the original OT I feel entitled to do so :^)
Do be sure to crosspost to alt.autos.porsche when replying please.
GG is significantly more retarded in its new installment

Oil: 5W-30 Rather Than 5W-20 ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
My son has a 2005 Honda Accord, 6 Cyl.
The Manual says to use 5W-20 Oil.
He's having a rough time finding it around where he lives.
Would 5W-30 be O.K. and safe ?

Nissan NV200 (London taxi) weird driveshafts by
[email protected]
The Nissan NV200 was a bog standard MPV on the Nissan-Renault B platform.
Nissan wanted to get the London taxi market, but the NV200 is FWD.
So they added an extra universal joint to driveshafts, allowing the wheels
to turn more. This reduced the turning circle from 11 m to 7.6 m !!!!!!
Now I have...

atomic Prius? by

We have nucular powered submarines, what about a
land vehicle? How small can you make a urannium
steam engine?
It strikes me as the ultimate carbon emission reducer -

From OP: Re Previous Oil Question by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Thanks for all of my previous post replies from you all.
Appreciate it very much. Great Forum.
All set now.
Just wondering about this a bit, so thought I'd ask also.
a. I know it is a no-no to mix "regular" oil with "Synthetic" oil.
I see that many of the offering say "Synthetic Blend"

water filter for washing car? by
[email protected]
I know this sounds crazy but I am wanting to experiment with a filter and housing to use attached to my spigot outside my pole barn garage. The purpose would be to wash my cars so there are no water spots and no need to dry them. I have three vehicles and it takes alot of time to wash them. Also,...

Latest car insurance telemarketing gimmick by
geo pearl
I answered the phone and was told that
they had spoken to me six months earlier
and that they weren't selling anything.
They said that their car insurance rates
had been sharply reduced and would I like
a rate quote? I said no thank-you and they
hung up before I could beat them to it.

do any contemporary cars use spiral bevel diffs? by
[email protected]
Hypoid gears waste energy. However the spiral bevel is noisier and has to be bigger to handle the same torque that hypoid gears can.
So I presume muscle cars and trucks do not use spiral bevel gears.
I was curious if anybody uses spiral bevel gears in the interests of saving fuel.

the importance of thermostats by
jim beam[_4_]
someone i know recently demonstrated that their modern function is
apparently poorly understood.
back in the day, a thermostat just sat on the high side of an engine,
and opened when the coolant temp convecting around it raised enough. if
there was a problem, like the thermostat failing...

Tax, Title, And Registration ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
When "negotiating" for a new car, is it normal that the
agreed upon price include the tax, title, and registration costs, or are
these 3 items always just assumed to be the buyers', and tacked on after
the final overall price is "settled" upon ?
Thanks,
Bob

Service engine light and stalling by
Tom Del Rosso[_3_]
Buick Lesabre 2002. I had to stop short this morning, and immediately the
engine started sputtering. It came back to life if I rev it. I started to
smell gas from the vents, which were blowing. Mileage got really bad.
I had no choice but to continue driving to work and back. I put about 40...
