Buick AC Clutch Jingles by Rodan
(1992 Buick Roadmaster 350CI 170k Miles) The AC works fine, but a jingling sound comes from the compressor clutch while it is engaged. When it releases, it is silent. Can anyone tell me what is occurring and what I can do now to prevent a failure? Thanks for any information, Rodan.

anyone tried new Kumho's? by Sammy
Hi, Need a decent tire without spending too much (don't we all). Something brough my attention to Kumho so I did a lot of searching on them. Hard to find an objective opinion. People either love 'em or hate 'em, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground. Anyway, I think I'm going to give them...

EGR Valve Beginner Question by Ninja[_2_]
I was helping my brother in law with his '94 Saturn (failed smog for "EGR Function") when we came across this symptom that I don't understand. There are many things I don't understand, but cutting straight to the chase . . . When applying vacuum (sucking on the hose to the EGR valve, it holds...

Transmission Problem? by Regan
Hello, I have a '94 GA with a 3.1 L engine. When I am driving on the highway and my car is in 4th gear all is good. The problem I am experiencing happens when I have to climb a hill and my car needs that extra umph to make it up. It shifts down into 3rd gear (normal so far) but never goes back to...

Did you own a flood-damaged Katrina car? by [email protected]
There have been periodic warnings that cars damaged in the hurricanes that swept through Louisiana and Mississippi might have been retitled and sold around the country, rather than scrapped. Did you end up owning one of these flooded cars, either as a buyer or seller? I am an auto writer for a big...

Chevy G2500 Transmission by Jay
Whenever I drive my van and reach about 45 to 55 miles per hour. It feels like it looses the gear that its in and the engine revs up and the van doesn't do anything but slow down. I recently changed the transmission fluid and filter but that didn't help. I normally shift to third gear, to get...

parts of a regenerative braking system by [email protected]
Hi! I'm planning to modify my motorcycle to turn it into a hybrid bike (an experiment). I'm thinking of adding an electric motor mounted on the swing arm which would then drive the chain and the rear wheel. Most of the electric vehicles I've read about use brushless motors. Should it be an AC or...

CV Joints--Problems / Symptoms by MAB
Vehicle: 2000 Pont. Grand AM 3.4 Just wanted to ask besides the common "clicking" noise in turns what other systems would be present if you had bad CV joints? The reason I'm asking is that the car has been aligned, spin balanced and 2 new hubs/bearings put in and I'm getting a chugging noise...

96 Isuzu Rodeo fast idle by George Brims
Our Rodeo (3.2L V6) idles very fast - about 2200 rpm. We had it worked on before for this and they replaced the "idle motor" (which is actually a solenoid and not a motor). That fixed it for a while but then the idle speed gradually crept up again. It's now at the stage where heads turn in a...

TIG Welders by [email protected]
I am planning to build a tube chassis vehicle and I want to invest in an AC/DC TIG welding machine. The thing is, there also is a similar TIG welding machine with a Pulse feature. Is this feature necessary? or do I just buy the AC/DC TIG without the pulse feature?

Megane stalling at 4000rpm and hard acceleration by [email protected]
Having just completed a DIY head gasket and timing belt change I took the car for a spin. I found it lurched violently when I accelerated hard (foot to the floor) in 1st gear and also did the same in any gear when it hit 4000rpm. Some of the lurches resulted in a dead stall, which were easy to...

I have a 2000 pontiac grand am with the 3.4L and auto tranny. I thought a while ago that people had told me that the engine must be running to check the fluid level in this tranny. Checking my Haynes manual it says that the vehicle must be run to op temp and cycle the shifter through the gears...
