1988 Buick Reatta no spark by Cartrivision1
Hi, I recently purchased a 88' Buick Reatta with the 3800 V6 engine. It drove fine at first but would not start after sitting a few days. I had a mechanic look at it and it was getting no spark. He tested the coil pack and ignition module and they were good. Put in a new crank position sensor and...

Muffler Rattle by Izu
My car was making a lot of noise so I went underneath to take a look. I noticed my muffler connection was leaking a little so I tightened up the bolts. When I did that, the noise lessened but now the pipe is rattling. Should I tighten it up all the way or loosen it and put something in between?

2001 Taurus A/C by [email protected]
Hello, I had posted last year about my taurus air conditioner having issues, and I finally just got around to getting a proper set of gauges. Symptoms: A/C doesnt work on hot days, only cold days. I can hear the compressor kick in on the cooler days, but never on the hotter days. A can of...

Dials go haywire - car wont start by [email protected]
My elderly mother is here for a visit and we went to take a ride, her car wouldn't start. It's an Oldsmobile Calais or something like that, I don't know the year, probably 2000. She has it in the shop for regular tune ups and that kind of thing. So it was just dead. I'm assuming the battery, but...

1999 Jeep Cherokee is sputtering, throttle surging and back firing by pinkbumblebee
Last year the 1999 Jeep did the same thing. Took it to the mechanic and they said it was the throttle control value. They also replace the spark plug wire and plugs with a turn up along with the throttle control value.. The Jeep ran good for a year, then started doing it again. When you start the...

Can the oil pan be removed from a '66 Fairlane w/289 in car w/o loosening the engine mounts? by Doc
I want to change the oil pump on a '66 Fairlane wagon w/289. Reading the 1970 Chilton's that covers this car, it seems to indicate you can pull the oil pan in car, it doesnt mention loosening the engine mounts or even the sway bar. But danged if I could get it out. Is there a trick? The only...

2008 Subaru Tribeca by TDR911
The crossover segment is hotter than a kitchen fire at Buffalo Wild Wings, so Subaru could ill afford to wait to update its Tribeca, which landed with a thud two years ago when it was launched with a strange face, an overworked powertrain, and a pointless B9 prefix. http://automobnews.blogspot.com/

Was it really my alternator? by [email protected]
My car is an automatic 1990 Toyota Corolla with 84,000 miles on it. I bought it used with 63,000 miles on it 2 1/2 years ago, and it has been mostly trouble free. A few weeks ago I noticed one morning that the car had trouble starting. Really just a hesitation, a little trouble turning over...

Learning auto repair by [email protected]
Hi - I'm new to auto repair but have been really getting into it for past couple of months, and was just wondering what you thought about learning auto repair entirely on your own - whether it's possible or just too impractical compared to taking courses. There's this GM AS degree in this...

Working under a car gives me intestinal issues.... by HiC
I notice that when I work under a car, it seems to give me gastrointestinal issues and even makes me a bit queasy. Could it be some kind of issue with coming in contact with grease/oil and fumes?
